The Vision Pro is now easier to share, and getting a new iPhone app

Apple’s Vision 2.4 update makes sharing the Vision Pro easier, introduces a new iPhone app for content discovery, and adds the Spatial Gallery app.

Apple is improving the Vision Pro experience with its latest software update, visionOS 2.4. This update, now rolling out in beta to developers, aims to simplify sharing the headset with guests. It also introduces a new iPhone app to help you find and install Vision Pro apps without needing to wear the device.

A smoother guest experience

One of the biggest challenges with Vision Pro is sharing it with others. Previously, letting a guest use your headset required you to put it on first and go through a setup process. With visionOS 2.4, that hassle is being reduced. When a guest puts on the headset, you will receive a prompt on your iPhone or iPad to approve Guest Mode. You can then choose which apps they can access and even enable AirPlay to share their view on another screen. This feature is similar to how Apple employees set up in-store demos.

While this update makes sharing easier, Apple has not removed the 30-day limit that resets saved guest profiles. If guests do not use the headset regularly, they will still have to go through the hand-and-eye setup process again after a month. Despite this limitation, the update is a major improvement over the initial sharing experience.

A new iPhone app for Vision Pro

Finding software for the Vision Pro has been challenging since you previously had to search while wearing the headset. With visionOS 2.4 and iOS 18.4, Apple is introducing an iPhone app called Apple Vision Pro for iOS. This app allows you to browse the visionOS App Store, install apps remotely, and even queue up videos for the headset from your iPhone.

Without this app, your only options for discovering Vision Pro software were searching for recommendations online or scrolling through Apple’s website for a list of available apps. The new iPhone app eliminates this inconvenience, making managing your Vision Pro content easier without putting on the headset.

Additionally, the app provides a more convenient way to view key information about your headset, such as the serial number. Instead of searching through settings within the Vision Pro or your Apple Account, you can now access these details directly in the app. For those who need prescription lenses, the app will also store their ZEISS Optical Inserts App Clip code, making it easier to manage their accessories.

The Apple Vision Pro for iOS app will automatically download to your iPhone when iOS 18.4 is installed. You can download the app separately from the App Store if you do not own a Vision Pro.

Alongside visionOS 2.4, Apple is also launching a new Vision Pro app called Spatial Gallery. This app is designed to showcase the capabilities of the Vision Pro by offering a curated collection of spatial photos, videos, and panoramas. Apple has included exclusive behind-the-scenes clips from popular Apple TV shows like Severance and Shrinking, highlighting how the Vision Pro enhances immersive content.

Spatial Gallery will be available to Vision Pro owners when VisionOS 2.4 officially launches in April. By introducing this new app, Apple aims to demonstrate the Vision Pro’s unique strengths and encourage more users to explore its spatial content features.

With these updates, Apple is addressing some of the key frustrations associated with using and sharing the Vision Pro. Whether making Guest Mode more seamless, introducing an iPhone app for better content management, or showcasing immersive experiences with Spatial Gallery, visionOS 2.4 is set to make the headset more user-friendly.
