Canon expands smart surveillance portfolio with workplace AI solution

Canon launches Workplace AI in Singapore, a smart surveillance solution using real-time video analytics to boost security and efficiency.

Canon has announced the launch of Workplace AI, a new addition to its Smart Surveillance Portfolio designed to deliver advanced edge artificial intelligence for real-time monitoring and analytics. The solution is aimed at strengthening security, improving operational efficiency, and enabling data-driven decision-making across multiple industries.

The release of Workplace AI aligns with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0 and the government’s commitment of over S$1 billion in AI development over the next five years. By integrating intelligent video analytics and automation, the system enables organisations in education, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, and city management to gather insights, monitor activity, and improve compliance and efficiency.

Andrew Koh, Senior Vice President and Head of Singapore Operations Group at Canon Singapore, said, “As Singapore accelerates towards an AI-driven economy, organisations across multiple sectors are looking for smarter, more resilient ways to operate. Workplace AI helps businesses to unlock actionable insights, enabling them to anticipate challenges, seize opportunities and build a more sustainable, future-ready enterprise.”

Applications in education and childcare

Workplace AI has been designed with flexibility in mind, allowing deployment without major hardware upgrades. In the education sector, the platform provides actionable insights into how facilities are used, helping institutions optimise planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. It can also track compliance with safety protocols, such as the use of personal protective equipment in laboratories and prototyping spaces.

The solution has been recognised by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) under the Advanced Digital Solutions initiative, which supports early childhood centres in adopting AI-powered video analytics. Within preschools and childcare facilities, the platform enables automated monitoring, early incident detection, and advanced privacy masking to protect identities. By integrating with existing CCTV systems, it enhances safety while ensuring that child development activities are not disrupted.

Enhancing aerospace safety and industry collaboration

In the aerospace sector, Workplace AI supports operators in detecting unsafe behaviour, including workers crossing outside designated zones or failing to wear safety vests. Its customisable dashboards allow organisations to review operational patterns, address bottlenecks, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This contributes to smoother operations and higher safety standards in a sector where efficiency and compliance are critical.

Canon has also been recognised at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025 in the Facial Recognition Aviation category for its innovation in surveillance solutions. The company plans to continue advancing its portfolio by strengthening partnerships through memorandums of understanding with its Canon Group companies, Axis Communications and Milestone Systems. These collaborations are expected to help foster innovation, nurture talent, and build a strong foundation for the next generation of surveillance technology.

Building a future-ready workforce

Canon has positioned Workplace AI not only as a tool for operational improvement but also as part of a larger vision to train and develop industry talent. By working with its partners, the company aims to create a collaborative environment that will equip future professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to support the next wave of AI-powered security and surveillance.

With its combination of advanced analytics, scalability, and cross-industry applications, Workplace AI represents Canon’s ambition to drive innovation in a data-driven world, supporting organisations as they prepare for the future of AI-driven operations.
