ESGpedia powers UN Global Compact Singapore’s digital carbon emissions tool

ESGpedia partners with UN Global Compact Singapore to launch an upgraded digital tool to help businesses track and reduce their carbon emissions.

ESGpedia Pte Ltd, a leader in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data and technology solutions, has announced its collaboration with the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) to power the newly launched Digital Carbon and Emissions Recording Tool (CERT). This tool is part of GCNS’s LowCarbonSG Programme, designed to help Singaporean businesses streamline their carbon emissions tracking and reporting processes.

The partnership marks a significant step in helping businesses across Singapore monitor their carbon footprint with ease. Through ESGpedia’s platform, businesses can now access the Digital CERT Tool free of charge, offering a straightforward way to track emissions. This initiative also allows companies that successfully monitor and reduce their emissions to earn the LowCarbonSG Participant Logo, a badge of recognition for their efforts in sustainability.

A step forward from the original CERT tool

The Digital CERT Tool is an updated and improved version of the original tool launched in 2021 by Ms. Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment. It was first introduced as a key feature of the LowCarbonSG programme, with around 200 companies initially submitting their carbon data. Over 50% of those companies reported a 5% reduction in emissions during the second year.

Now, with the partnership between GCNS and ESGpedia, the tool has been fully digitalised and streamlined for more efficient use. The updated version aims to increase adoption by making the process simpler and faster, encouraging more companies to take part in the sustainability initiative.

New features improve user experience and compliance

The updated Digital CERT Tool offers several enhanced features, including an improved user interface and web-based accessibility. These upgrades aim to make it easier for companies to track and report their carbon emissions. In addition, the tool supports global compliance and integrates seamlessly with existing systems, making data submissions faster and more efficient.

ESGpedia’s platform, which powers the tool, is certified under ISO14064-1 and follows the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, ensuring that businesses calculate their emissions accurately and according to international standards. This offers companies the reassurance that their data is reliable and compliant with global regulations.

A commitment to sustainability

Benjamin Soh, Founder and Managing Director of ESGpedia, emphasised the importance of this partnership. “Our partnership with the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) to power the Digital CERT Tool through ESGpedia signifies our collective commitment to levelling the playing field to enable businesses, large and small, to remain competitive and thrive amidst rising ESG regulations,” he said.

Soh also highlighted how ESGpedia’s platform plays a vital role in closing data and disclosure gaps in the region. “With ESGpedia today powering key programs across the region to close data and disclosure gaps, our latest partnership with GCNS takes it one step further in streamlining carbon emissions tracking and reporting for Singaporean businesses,” he added.

As consumer and regulatory expectations evolve, the partnership between ESGpedia and GCNS is a significant move towards helping companies not just track their emissions but actively work towards reducing them. This initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability, making it easier for businesses in Singapore to contribute to global efforts in reducing carbon footprints.
