Honor is preparing to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Magic V Flip2, with the launch set for 21 August 2025 in Shanghai. The clamshell-style device is the brand’s newest addition to the foldable phone segment, and teasers released on Honor’s official Weibo account have provided a first look at its design and features.
The company has highlighted the durability of the foldable display, which uses ultra-thin UTG glass. According to Honor, the screen crease remains less than 50 micrometres even after 350,000 folds, which the brand equates to around five years of everyday use.
Another focus of the teaser campaign has been the phone’s battery technology. A 5,500mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the Magic V Flip2, a type sometimes referred to in Chinese as the “Qinghai Lake battery”. The device supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, offering users fast and convenient recharging options.
Style and design
To increase its appeal to a fashion-conscious audience, Honor has announced that the Magic V Flip2 will be available in four colour options. These include Dawn Purple, Moonlight White, Titanium Grey, and Dreamweaver Blue. Dawn Purple is believed to take inspiration from the morning glory flower, continuing the brand’s trend of linking technology with nature-inspired themes.
In addition, the Magic V Flip2 is designed with aesthetics in mind, featuring a bejewelled hinge and camera rims. These details were developed in collaboration with British luxury fashion label Jimmy Choo. The rear of the device includes dual cameras with a compact layout, positioned alongside an end-to-end secondary square display.
To further connect with the fashion world, Honor has appointed Taiwanese-Canadian singer and actress Angela Zhang as its “Aesthetics Fashion Officer”. Zhang is expected to play a role in promoting the phone as both a stylish accessory and a piece of technology.
Availability and expectations
The official launch event will take place on 21 August 2025 at 7.30 pm local time (GMT+8), which is also Singapore time. Pre-orders for the Magic V Flip2 have already opened in China, but the company has not yet confirmed whether the device will be available internationally.
By combining advanced battery performance with durability and a luxury-focused design, Honor appears to be targeting a younger, style-oriented audience with the Magic V Flip2. The collaboration with Jimmy Choo and the appointment of Angela Zhang suggest a strategy that merges high fashion with consumer technology.
The brand’s marketing campaign indicates that the Magic V Flip2 is more than just a functional device, aiming instead to present it as a fashion statement for modern consumers. Whether this approach will translate to strong sales outside China remains to be seen, but the launch signals Honor’s determination to establish itself in the competitive foldable smartphone market.
