iPhone 17E expected to bring new design, Dynamic Island and A19 chip

Apple’s iPhone 17E could launch in early 2026 with a new design, Dynamic Island and the powerful A19 chip.

The upcoming iPhone 17E is expected to receive a refreshed design and several key upgrades when it launches in early 2026, according to new leaks. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has suggested that the device will mark a shift in Apple’s approach to its entry-level iPhone series, introducing features that were previously limited to higher-end models.

While details of the new industrial design remain unclear, industry watchers believe the iPhone 17E may borrow styling cues from the iPhone 15. This would follow Apple’s established pattern, as the current iPhone 16E took inspiration from the design of the iPhone 14. Such a move would bring the lower-priced model visually closer to the premium line-up, while still maintaining a clear distinction between ranges.

Dynamic Island is likely to replace the notch

Another major change could be the introduction of the Dynamic Island feature. This interactive display element was first introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro models and has since expanded across more of Apple’s line-up. The iPhone 16E currently retains a traditional notch, making the potential move to Dynamic Island a notable upgrade for users seeking a more modern look and improved functionality.

Dynamic Island integrates the TrueDepth camera system into a pill-shaped cut-out that expands to show alerts, live activities and widgets. This provides users with real-time information without disrupting their main display content. If the rumours prove accurate, it would be the first time Apple has introduced this feature to its entry-level E-series iPhones, reflecting a gradual push towards unifying design across the full range.

Performance boost with A19 chip

The third upgrade expected for the iPhone 17E is the addition of the new A19 processor. This chip is also tipped to power the upcoming iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro, marking a significant performance boost for the E-series. Apple has historically equipped its lower-priced models with slightly older processors, so adopting the A19 would signal a shift towards giving budget-conscious buyers access to more advanced hardware.

Aside from these headline improvements, the iPhone 17E is expected to retain several familiar features. Reports suggest the device will continue to offer a 6.1-inch OLED display, a 48-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. These specifications closely align with those of the iPhone 16E, ensuring continuity for users while delivering notable enhancements in design and processing power.

The iPhone 17E is reportedly scheduled for release in early 2026, fitting Apple’s regular annual refresh cycle. As with previous launches, more details are expected to emerge closer to the official announcement.
