Monster Hunter Wilds open beta announced, set to begin on November 1

Join the open beta of Monster Hunter Wilds on November 1 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, with exclusive rewards and multiplayer options.

Are you a Monster Hunter fan eagerly awaiting the next big adventure? Capcom has announced an open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds, giving players a first glimpse into the new fantasy-themed instalment. The game showcases stunning visuals and new gameplay experiences alongside a promotional video. This open beta will be available to all players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It’s set to run from November 1 at 11:00 am SGT until November 4 at 10:59 am SGT. However, if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you get early access to the action, starting from October 29 at 11:00 am SGT through October 31 at 10:59 am SGT.

The beta will require about 29 GB of storage space, so be prepared to make some room if you want to dive into the world of Monster Hunter Wilds. Although only a portion of the game will be available during the test period, there’s plenty to keep players engaged.

Begin your Wilds journey with the Chatacabra and Doshaguma hunts

In the beta, you’ll get a taste of Monster Hunter Wilds through the beginning of its story, including the opening tutorial. One of the primary hunts featured will be the Chatacabra monster, setting the stage for the many challenging encounters. Alongside this hunt, players can also take on the Doshaguma Hunt Quest, where you’ll face the Alpha Doshaguma, a fierce new creature introduced in Wilds. These initial quests will give players a feel for the game’s storyline and combat mechanics, though it’s important to note that progress in these story quests won’t carry over to the entire game.

However, you can save your character data from the beta, meaning the time you spend perfecting your hunter’s look won’t be wasted. This character data will transfer over when the full game launches, allowing you to pick up where you left off. During the beta, you’ll also have the opportunity to design your Palico, your faithful companion, setting the stage for customisation options.

Test multiplayer and unlock rewards for the full game

Capcom has also enabled multiplayer options for the beta, allowing players to team up on quests. In-game, you can send out an SOS Flare to call for help, making it easy to form a group. You’ll also be introduced to the game’s new NPC hunters, who can join you in combat if you’re short on players. Through your handler, Alma, you can customise multiplayer settings, making it easy to experience the cooperative side of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom has added a few extra incentives for fans looking forward to exclusive rewards. Beta participants will receive a Palico Teddy pendant and an Item Pack upon the full game’s release, allowing you to add unique touches to your equipment. These items will become available when the full game launches, giving beta players something to look forward to.

Full game release and what’s next

If the beta whets your appetite, you won’t have to wait much longer to experience the full journey. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, when all players can dive into this expansive new world. Until then, fans can check out the official Monster Hunter Wilds broadcast for a closer look at new monsters, quests, and environments available at launch.
