Nothing unveils CMF Watch 3 Pro with a larger display and upgraded GPS, but drops custom bezels

Nothing's CMF Watch 3 Pro launches with a larger display and improved GPS, but sacrifices swappable bezels for a sleeker design.

Technology firm Nothing has officially launched the CMF Watch 3 Pro, the latest addition to its affordable subbrand of wearables. The new smartwatch introduces a range of upgrades over its predecessor, the Watch Pro 2, including a larger OLED display, more accurate health sensors, enhanced GPS tracking, and improved battery life. However, the update comes at the cost of one of the previous model’s most popular features—its swappable bezels.

The CMF Watch 3 Pro is now available worldwide for US$99, although it is currently on sale for a limited time at US$79. It comes in three colour variants: dark grey, light grey, and orange.

Display upgrade and design changes

One of the most noticeable changes in the CMF Watch 3 Pro is its larger 1.43-inch OLED screen, which offers a 10 percent improvement in screen-to-body ratio compared to the 1.32-inch display on the Watch Pro 2. This provides users with a more immersive viewing experience, making notifications and health data easier to read at a glance.

However, unlike its predecessor, the Watch 3 Pro does not include interchangeable bezels. The removal of this feature limits users’ ability to customise the watch’s appearance, a feature that had previously set the CMF range apart from other budget smartwatches.

Despite the change in aesthetic flexibility, the new model offers a sleeker and more streamlined design. The fixed bezels provide a more unified look and may contribute to the device’s improved battery performance.

Enhanced health tracking and GPS functionality

The CMF Watch 3 Pro now features 131 sports modes and introduces a new four-channel heart rate sensor designed to deliver more accurate readings during workouts and throughout the day. It also supports AI-powered coaching, which tailors running plans and fitness insights to the user’s progress. Post-workout summaries provide an overview of the activity, enabling users to refine their routines over time.

One of the key improvements is the addition of dual-band GPS. Nothing calls this update “a major leap forward” from the previous model, noting that the new GPS setup significantly enhances signal stability and precision. The company claims this leads to faster and more accurate route tracking regardless of the environment, a benefit for users engaging in outdoor sports or travel.

Battery life, software updates and app integration

The Watch 3 Pro’s battery performance also sees a noticeable boost. According to Nothing, the device can last up to 13 days under typical usage, a two-day improvement over the Watch Pro 2. With heavy tracking enabled, the battery life is estimated at 11 days. However, with the always-on display turned on, that drops to approximately 4.5 days. Charging the watch to full capacity takes about 99 minutes.

Control of the smartwatch’s features has shifted to Nothing’s updated X app, which offers a refreshed user interface and now supports integration with Strava, Apple Health, and Google Health Connect. In a move to streamline the user experience, Nothing confirmed that earlier CMF models, including the Watch Pro and Watch Pro 2, will also transition to the X app in due course.

Nonetheless, some users have pointed out the brand’s inconsistent product naming conventions. The jump from Watch Pro 2 to Watch 3 Pro, rather than Watch Pro 3, mirrors a similar discrepancy seen in the CMF Buds Pro 2 and Buds 2 Plus, which has drawn mild criticism for potential confusion.

Still, the Watch 3 Pro stands out as a promising step forward for the CMF smartwatch line, offering enhanced fitness and location tracking, a larger display, and longer battery life—albeit at the expense of personalisation options.
