OXS launches Thunder Duo on Kickstarter as first studio-grade gaming speakers with true Dolby Atmos

OXS launches Thunder Duo on Kickstarter, a studio-grade gaming speaker series with true Dolby Atmos, modular design, and immersive 360° sound.

OXS has launched its Thunder Duo range on Kickstarter, introducing what it calls the world’s first studio-grade desktop gaming speaker system with true Dolby Atmos support. Following its acclaimed previews at IFA and Gamescom 2025, the Thunder Duo is designed to transform gaming and entertainment audio without the complexity of ceiling-mounted speakers or virtual surround simulations.

The Thunder Duo delivers a genuine 360-degree soundstage through upward-firing sky channels, coaxial front drivers, and OXS’s proprietary Xspace spatial audio engine. The result is a cinematic audio experience that recreates the depth and direction of sound with remarkable accuracy.

The Thunder Duo Max is available on Kickstarter from 28 October, with early-backer pricing set at US$399 (regular US$549) for Thunder Duo, US$449 (regular US$649) for Thunder Duo X, and US$569 (regular US$849) for Thunder Duo Max. OXS is also offering a pre-launch VIP promotion on its website, where users can secure the lowest prices—US$349, US$399, and US$499 respectively—by placing a fully refundable deposit. Deposits can be cancelled at any time and will be refunded in full after full payment during the campaign.

Three models designed for different needs

The Thunder Duo range comes in three configurations tailored to different setups. At the top end, the Thunder Duo Max features a wireless subwoofer that delivers deep, powerful bass without cable clutter or synchronisation issues. The Thunder Duo X extends the system into a full 5.1.2 surround experience with a wireless headrest satellite neck speaker, providing authentic rear-channel audio that moves with the listener.

The standard Thunder Duo forms the core 3.1.2-channel system, producing 110W RMS (220W peak) of room-filling sound across spaces up to 220 square feet. Built for gamers and creators alike, it uses alloy magnet drivers, dual DSP processing, and fluid-dynamics bass ports to achieve monitor-level sound accuracy with distortion kept below 0.5%, matching the standards of professional studio speakers. Subtle audio cues, cinematic scores, and sound effects all emerge with exceptional clarity.

Seamless connectivity and future-ready design

The Thunder Duo system offers broad compatibility across devices and platforms. It supports HDMI 2.1 (eARC, 4K at 120Hz), USB-C, Bluetooth 5.3, and optical connections, ensuring smooth integration with PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PCs, VR headsets, and mobile devices. Users can switch between inputs instantly without reconnecting cables. The speakers also offer three audio presets and a custom mode, with EQ settings adjustable via the OXS app.

Visual customisation plays a key role in the experience. The Thunder Duo features six-ring RGB flame effects across three lighting zones, with eight preset modes—Flame, Turbo, Lightning, Flow, Reflex, Waterfall, Breathe, and Jump—or fully customisable colours and effects through the Omni Xspace app. Combined with its angular, spacecraft-inspired design, the system is built to transform gaming spaces into immersive, futuristic environments.

Each speaker is compact, measuring 7 x 8.5 x 10.9 inches, and designed with an 8° upward tilt for optimal sound projection. The modular design allows for future expansion, with wireless neck speakers and subwoofers connecting easily through a single USB dongle, simplifying setup and upgrades.

With its combination of modular expandability, studio-grade performance, striking design, and true Dolby Atmos integration, the Thunder Duo series represents a major step forward for gaming and home audio systems.
