Smart Nation activities for your child this school holiday

Keep your children entertained and educated this school holiday in Singapore with Smart Nation activities like PlayScape, CityScape, Smart Nation Builder, and free coding lessons.

The school holidays have arrived, so the children are full of energy and looking for adventures! To help you channel their enthusiasm in a fun and educational way, here are some fantastic Smart Nation activities to keep them occupied and learning.

Explore the new PlayScape at the Science Centre

The Science Centre’s PlayScape opened in late May and is a dream destination for parents wanting to blend fun with learning. This exhibit focuses on AI, cybersecurity, and other digital technologies, offering hands-on learning experiences. It’s both engaging and educational, perfect for curious young minds.

Kids can explore complex topics like blockchain and geospatial technology in a user-friendly manner. They’ll have a blast programming a robot to dance, training an AI to identify 3D-printed animals, or watching a robot solve a Rubik’s Cube.

Location: 15 Science Centre Rd, Singapore 609081. Open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

Visit the Smart Nation CityScape

If the Science Centre is too far, consider the Smart Nation CityScape at the URA Centre’s Singapore City Gallery. This is an excellent spot for kids to see how technology shapes our environment.

Children can dive into augmented reality experiences, create their own avatars, and go on a digital scavenger hunt. It’s an exciting opportunity to see the impact of technology on Singapore’s growth and development.

Location: 45 Maxwell Road, The URA Centre, Singapore 069118. Open Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Check out the Smart Nation Builder

Take advantage of the Smart Nation Builder, a roving exhibition housed in a 12-metre-long truck. It offers an immersive and interactive experience about Smart Nation initiatives in community services, healthcare, and education.

There’s a special “Kids Wall” station where children can engage in collaborative games and try out prototypes of upcoming digital government initiatives. Plus, there’s a photo booth and a claw machine for some added fun!

Learn coding for free with GovTech

And for those days at home, GovTech’s YouTube channel offers free coding lessons. Using Scratch, a language designed for children, these lessons are a great way for your little ones to start learning the basics of coding.

So, keep your children engaged and learning this school holiday with these Smart Nation activities. They’re fun, educational, and perfect for the holiday season!
