Singapore becomes the first in Southeast Asia to get Apple’s Detailed City Experience

Apple brings its Detailed City Experience to Singapore, featuring enhanced maps, 3D landmarks, and improved navigation for both drivers and pedestrians.

Apple has rolled out its Detailed City Experience to Singapore, marking the first launch of the feature in Southeast Asia. The update arrives four years after the company first introduced the service in iOS 15 and coincides with Singapore’s National Day celebrations.

The new feature is available to Apple Maps users in Singapore starting today. It offers richer details across the city, including more precise road markings, improved land cover, and more realistic depictions of trees and public transport routes. Apple said the update provides drivers and pedestrians with improved navigation, including information on turn lanes, medians, buses and crosswalks.

Iconic landmarks in 3D

Alongside improved navigation, Apple has introduced custom-designed 3D models of some of Singapore’s most recognisable landmarks. These include Gardens by the Bay, Apple Marina Bay Sands, Victoria Theatre, and Victoria Concert Hall. The feature also supports night mode, which gives the map a soft moonlit glow when viewed after dusk, adding a more immersive experience for users navigating the city at night.

Drivers will also benefit from the Windshield View function, which provides a road-level perspective when approaching complex interchanges. This view is designed to facilitate easier anticipation of traffic conditions and selection of the correct lane before an exit.

Global rollout continues

The introduction of Detailed City Experience in Singapore adds to Apple’s growing list of cities and regions where the feature is already available. Currently, the service covers 32 locations worldwide, including major cities such as London, Paris, New York, Vancouver, and Hamburg, as well as countries like Spain and Sweden.

By extending the service to Singapore, Apple aims to bring the same enhanced navigation and immersive mapping experience already enjoyed by users in North America and Europe to Southeast Asia.

Apple has not yet confirmed when other cities in the region might gain access to the feature. However, the launch in Singapore highlights the company’s focus on expanding its mapping services to more international markets.
