Tata Communications unveils AI infrastructure with NVIDIA technology, advancing India’s AI capabilities

Tata Communications partners with NVIDIA to launch an AI cloud infrastructure in India, driving AI innovation across industries and boosting India's global AI role.

Tata Communications has announced a major upgrade to its AI cloud infrastructure in India, powered by NVIDIA’s Hopper GPUs. This partnership marks a significant step forward in the country’s AI development, positioning Tata Communications as a key player in driving AI applications across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and banking and financial services. By providing cutting-edge computing power, this infrastructure aims to handle the complex demands of AI workloads.

Launch of AI cloud infrastructure

The first phase of Tata Communications’ AI infrastructure will begin later this year. This phase will establish one of the largest NVIDIA Hopper GPU cloud-based supercomputers in India. The company plans to expand further in 2025 by incorporating NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs, significantly enhancing the system’s capabilities. By integrating NVIDIA’s advanced technologies, Tata Communications aims to empower businesses with AI-driven tools for automation, simulation, and other AI-powered services.

In collaboration with NVIDIA, Tata Communications will incorporate platforms such as NVIDIA NIM microservices, Omniverse, and Isaac, designed to support industries through AI-driven solutions. These platforms are tailored to enhance business operations by offering tools for AI simulation, automation, and distributed data management.

Tools and platforms to drive AI adoption

To simplify data handling, Tata Communications will offer businesses the ability to manage and move data efficiently across various enterprise systems. Using its IZO Multi Cloud Connect platform, the company promises a seamless integration process that maintains existing data structures while being scalable and cost-effective for enterprises. The new AI Studio platform is another highlight, offering features like AI Workbench, Model Garden, and serverless functions. These innovations are expected to transform how businesses adopt and utilise AI, providing a comprehensive set of tools for AI development and deployment.

The company’s CloudLyte Edge Computing platform is another addition to the AI ecosystem, enabling real-time, low-latency AI inferencing at the edge. This will allow businesses to deploy AI models closer to their users, ensuring faster response times and more efficient AI-powered operations.

Expanding India’s role in global AI

AS Lakshminarayanan, MD & CEO of Tata Communications, emphasised the importance of AI in shaping future business practices. “AI is expanding the boundaries of innovation and revolutionising business in ways we could never have imagined,” he stated. He also highlighted how the partnership with NVIDIA will empower Indian innovators and entrepreneurs to build a thriving AI ecosystem that will drive the nation’s progress.

The partnership will not only impact industries in India but also position the country as a global AI hub. Combining NVIDIA’s platform with Tata Communications’ global network is set to create a supercomputing framework that will propel AI innovation in India and contribute to its growing role in the global AI landscape.

Jay Puri, executive vice president of worldwide field operations at NVIDIA, added, “Tata Communications’ AI cloud infrastructure, integrating NVIDIA accelerated computing, will support businesses of all sizes, helping to drive AI transformation across multiple sectors of the Indian economy and fostering a powerful ecosystem for AI innovation.”

Expanding AI accessibility for businesses

Tata Communications’ customers will gain access to NVIDIA’s AI Enterprise software platform, which is designed to allow businesses to build and deploy AI applications. This includes access to NVIDIA’s NIM Agent Blueprints, which offer reference architectures for developing AI applications like digital human technologies, virtual assistants for customer service, and cybersecurity workflows.

The collaboration also allows enterprises to create custom AI models using NVIDIA’s NeMo platform and benefit from efficient AI inference through NVIDIA’s NIM microservices. These tools provide businesses with the flexibility and performance needed to tackle AI workloads, further cementing Tata Communications’ commitment to making AI more accessible across industries.

With this transformative infrastructure in place, Tata Communications is set to lead India’s AI transformation, providing next-generation AI services that will enable businesses to harness artificial intelligence’s full potential.
