Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup Asia 2024 heads to Kuala Lumpur

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup Asia Finals 2024 will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 13 October, showcasing top racers and cutting-edge tech.

Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Asia has officially announced the fifth edition of the Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo (GR GT) Cup Asia Finals, which will take place on 13 October 2024. This year’s finals will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the Connexion Conference and Event Centre, marking a significant event in the e-motorsports calendar.

Top racers from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines will compete for the coveted top two spots. Those who finish first or second will represent Asia in the GR GT Cup Global Finals. Each country held their national finals between July and August, and the top three finalists from each are now preparing for the regional competition.

Real-world racing, virtual track

What makes the GR GT Cup unique is its connection to real-world motorsports. Racers will drive virtual Toyota GR vehicles on iconic racetracks, “emulating real-world conditions, utilizing insights and research derived from actual races and cars.” The competition takes place in the racing simulator “Gran Turismo 7,” available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, offering participants a true-to-life racing experience.

The GR GT Cup is “a celebration of Toyota’s innovative history of over 60 years in motorsports,” and it showcases the “thrill of racing” while also pushing the brand’s vision of “making ever-better cars.” Toyota’s accessible e-motorsport format allows drivers from around the world to compete on equal ground, bringing together a diverse community of drivers to share in the excitement of motorsports.

Razer joins the race

For the first time, the GR GT Cup Asia Finals welcomes Razer Inc. as the official headset partner. Racers will be equipped with Razer’s wireless e-sports headsets, ensuring “seamless, clear and comfortable communication with their teams” throughout the event. This partnership brings a professional edge to the competition, helping racers stay connected without distractions.

As the finals approach, excitement is building for what promises to be a competitive and thrilling event. The GR GT Cup Asia Finals 2024 will showcase Asia’s top e-motorsport talent and highlight the cutting-edge technology behind it.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is excited to welcome the region’s best drivers to Kuala Lumpur for a thrilling display of motorsports talent and innovation. This event will give racing fans a chance to witness the future of motorsports and see emerging stars in action.
