AMD optimizes models for faster generative AI performance with Amuse 3.0

AMD announces optimised models for faster AI performance with Amuse 3.0, featuring enhanced photo filters, video diffusion, and more.

AMD has introduced optimised models for its Radeon graphics cards and Ryzen AI processors, designed to enhance the performance of generative AI tasks. In collaboration with Stability AI, AMD has developed these models to significantly speed up inference, with some hardware configurations achieving up to 4.3 times faster performance.

A step forward in generative AI capabilities

AMD’s latest breakthrough, made possible by the integration of AMD optimised models, offers users of compatible hardware a substantial improvement in generative AI workloads. For developers, these models are easily identifiable by the “_amdgpu” suffix on Hugging Face. The new optimisations are available through the newly released Amuse 3.0 Beta software by Tensorstack.AI, offering exciting new features alongside faster model performance.

To take full advantage of the new models, users must download the Adrenalin 24.30.31.05 AMD Optimised and Amuse 3.0 Preview Driver or wait for the mainline release of Adrenalin 24.5.1.

New features in Amuse 3.0

Amuse 3.0 introduces several new features that improve the overall user experience with AMD hardware. Most notably, the software now supports high-quality Photo AI filters and introduces draft-quality Video Diffusion and Video Restyle functionalities. These features allow users to create and modify visuals with enhanced creative potential, all while benefiting from the optimised models developed in partnership with Stability AI.

The release also brings more than 100 new image models and fine-tunes, ensuring that users have access to a wide variety of tools for their creative needs. This update makes Amuse 3.0 a comprehensive platform for users looking to explore the latest advancements in generative AI.

Enhanced performance with AMD hardware

One of the key advantages of Amuse 3.0 is its optimised performance on AMD hardware. For example, users with the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT can experience up to 4.3 times faster image generation with Stable Diffusion 1.5 and a 3.1x increase in performance with SDXL 1.0. The optimised models can also deliver up to 3.3 times faster performance in the SD 3.5 family of models, providing a clear advantage for users looking to speed up their generative AI tasks.

AMD Ryzen AI users, particularly those with the AI 9 HX 370, can expect performance improvements of between 5% and 50%, depending on the model. Additionally, AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processors (codenamed Strix Halo) will benefit from up to 3.3x faster performance in SD 3.5 models and significant improvements in Stable Diffusion 1.5 and SDXL 1.0.

Locally powered photo and video generation

Another key feature of Amuse 3.0 is its ability to run high-quality AI filters for photos and videos entirely locally, without the need to rely on cloud services. This ensures that users can maintain privacy while accessing the latest AI image trends. By integrating SDXL Lightning models and control nets, Amuse 3.0 allows users to generate professional-grade photo filters directly on their device.

The software also introduces video diffusion support, allowing users to re-style their videos using draft-quality video-to-video models or even generate video clips from text-to-image prompts. With these additions, Amuse 3.0 positions itself as a powerful tool for creatives working with both still images and video content.
