Apple’s HomePod with smart display may arrive in late 2025

Apple may launch a HomePod with a smart display in late 2025. It would feature advanced functions, a built-in camera, and HomeKit integration.

Apple is expected to launch a HomePod with a smart display in late 2025, marking a significant step forward for its smart home ecosystem.

Launch expected after WWDC 2025

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared that this next-generation HomePod is set to debut after Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in the third quarter of 2025. The device has reportedly faced delays due to ongoing software development challenges.

Kuo first hinted at this innovative HomePod in March 2023, stating it would feature a 7-inch display. By October 2023, a leaked image revealed a prototype with an LCD capable of displaying animations that sync with the colours of album art. The display may also support video calls, messaging, and other interactive features, bringing new functionality to Apple’s smart speaker lineup.

A smarter HomePod with advanced features

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously suggested that this updated HomePod would be released in 2025. The device is believed to be powered by Apple’s advanced A18 chip, feature a squarish display, and include a built-in camera for seamless video conferencing.

This new HomePod will likely complement Apple’s expanding smart home lineup. Alongside the rumoured smart home IP camera that Apple is reportedly developing, the HomePod could enhance the existing HomeKit ecosystem. These devices aim to provide a more unified and intuitive smart home experience.

Bridging functionality and innovation

Apple’s move into smart displays reflects growing competition in the smart home market. With devices like the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub already in play, Apple’s entry could set a new benchmark, especially for those invested in the HomeKit platform.

The integration of a built-in camera and advanced chip technology underscores Apple’s commitment to delivering functional and innovative devices. This could also mark a significant upgrade in Apple’s home automation and communication approach.

While details remain sparse, the anticipation surrounding Apple’s smart display-equipped HomePod continues to grow. As the tech giant refines its hardware and software, its vision of a more connected and immersive smart home ecosystem is taking shape.
