ASUS adds Dual Mode 4K gaming monitors across ROG Strix and TUF Gaming, with prices from S$339.
ASUS has announced the availability of three new 27-inch 4K gaming monitors across its ROG Strix and TUF Gaming lines, bringing Dual Mode technology to displays aimed at different types of gamers.

The new models are the ROG Strix XG27UCG Gen2, also known as XG27UCGR, the ROG Strix XG27UCS Gen2, also known as XG27UCSR, and the TUF Gaming VG27UQEL5A. All three monitors use 4K Fast IPS panels, carry a 0.3ms minimum response time, and allow users to switch between higher-resolution 4K visuals and faster refresh rates at lower resolutions.
Dual Mode gives users a choice between resolution and speed
The main feature across the three monitors is Dual Mode, which allows users to move between 4K output and lower-resolution modes with higher refresh rates. ASUS is presenting this as a way to serve competitive gaming, AAA titles, entertainment, and productivity from one display rather than requiring separate monitors for different use cases.
Smart Pixel technology is also included across the new models. When the monitors operate at lower resolutions, the feature applies 4K-level upscaling to improve sharpness, clarity, and image detail. This is intended to make the faster refresh-rate modes more usable without making the lower-resolution image appear soft.
The monitors also include ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync, or ELMB Sync, which allows ELMB to work with variable refresh rates. This is designed to reduce ghosting and tearing during fast movement. All three models are VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified for improved brightness and contrast.
ROG Strix models target higher refresh-rate gaming
The ROG Strix XG27UCG Gen2 sits at the top of the new line-up. Its Dual Mode setting lets users switch between 4K@162Hz and FHD@485Hz, giving it the fastest FHD refresh-rate option among the three newly announced models.
The ROG Strix XG27UCS Gen2 offers a slightly different balance, with support for 4K@160Hz and FHD@324Hz. Both ROG Strix models improve on the previous-generation XG27UCG and XG27UCS monitors, which had a 1ms grey-to-grey response time, by offering a 0.3ms minimum response time.
ASUS gives the XG27UCG Gen2 a broader feature set for users who need stronger visual performance beyond gaming. The monitor includes VESA DisplayHDR 400 compliance, 95% DCI-P3 and 130% sRGB colour gamut coverage, and factory calibration. ASUS states that these features make it suitable for gaming as well as photo and video editing.
The XG27UCG Gen2 also includes USB-C with 15W Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.1 for consoles and multimedia devices. It also has Aura Sync lighting on the rear panel and a compact footprint designed to reduce desk space requirements.
TUF Gaming model brings Dual Mode to a lower price point
The TUF Gaming VG27UQEL5A is aimed at mainstream gamers and offers a more accessible Dual Mode option. It uses a 27-inch 4K Fast IPS panel with a 0.3ms minimum response time and supports switching between 4K@80Hz and FHD@310Hz through a hotkey.
The monitor includes the same Smart Pixel technology for sharper visuals at lower resolutions. It also includes ELMB Sync to reduce smearing and motion blur during fast-paced gameplay.
For colour and display performance, the VG27UQEL5A carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and supports a 120% sRGB colour gamut. Connectivity includes DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 for consoles and multimedia devices.
Pricing and availability
In Singapore, the ROG Strix XG27UCG Gen2 is available islandwide at S$649, while the ROG Strix XG27UCS Gen2 is priced at S$499. The TUF Gaming VG27UQEL5A is also available islandwide and retails for S$339.
The three models join ASUS and ROG’s wider Dual Mode monitor line-up, which includes ROG Strix, ROG OLED, and ASUS TUF Gaming displays with different resolution and refresh-rate combinations.
