ASUS, MSI and Samsung unveil 27-inch 4K gaming monitors with top-tier specs

ASUS, MSI, and Samsung unveil new 27-inch 4K gaming monitors with 240Hz refresh rates, OLED panels, and cutting-edge features.

As the gaming industry continues to push boundaries, ASUS, MSI and Samsung have each revealed new high-end 27-inch gaming monitors. These latest models—the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UCDM, MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED, and a smaller version of Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8—promise high refresh rates, OLED technology, and top-tier visuals.

Despite their different names, these monitors share several core features. All three boast a 4K resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, housed in a compact 27-inch OLED panel. ASUS, however, notes that its model offers a slightly smaller 26.5-inch viewable area. This similarity suggests they all use the same fourth-generation Samsung QD-OLED panel, maintaining a 16:9 aspect ratio for an immersive viewing experience.

While 4K@240Hz monitors have been more common in larger sizes, these new models indicate a shift towards making high-end gaming technology more accessible in a smaller form factor. Samsung’s move is particularly notable, as the original Odyssey OLED G8, launched in early 2024, was a 32-inch model. By introducing a more compact version, Samsung is likely responding to the growing demand for high-performance monitors that fit in smaller spaces.

ASUS and MSI’s latest releases follow a similar trend, marking their first monitors to offer this exact combination of size and specs. If these displays perform well in sales, other brands may follow suit, bringing even more premium features to smaller screens.

All three monitors offer impressive specifications beyond their resolution and refresh rate. MSI’s model supports DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20, while ASUS’ ROG Swift PG27UCDM goes further with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. They also feature a rapid 0.03ms response time and are VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certified for deep contrast and rich colours.

Pricing details for the MSI and Samsung models have yet to be announced. However, the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UCDM is confirmed to launch in Singapore at the end of this month, priced at S$1,679. It will be available via the ASUS website and official ASUS stores on Lazada and Shopee.
