Call of Duty takes the spotlight at the upcoming Xbox games showcase

Call of Duty is set to feature prominently at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, amidst high anticipation and strategic significance.

Microsoft has confirmed the schedule for its next Xbox Games Showcase, set to be live-streamed on June 9 at 1 p.m. ET, coinciding with the Summer Game Fest that starts on June 7. This year, the showcase promises an exciting lineup and will feature a special segment dedicated to Call of Duty, according to reports from The Verge.

The upcoming Call of Duty installment, speculated to be “Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War,” is generating significant buzz among fans. Although not officially confirmed, rumours of its development have been circulating, sparking discussions and high expectations within the community. The last time Call of Duty featured prominently at the Xbox Showcase was in 2014 with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

This reintroduction of Call of Duty into the Xbox Showcase comes at a pivotal time. Despite the franchise’s longstanding popularity, 2023 marked the first year it was outsold globally by another game, “Hogwarts Legacy.” However, in the United States, Call of Duty continues to lead sales, underscoring its enduring appeal and strategic importance to Xbox’s portfolio this year.

The Xbox Games Showcase will not only highlight Call of Duty but also cover a wide array of titles from Microsoft’s extensive network of studios, including Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios, as well as games from third-party partners. This event is shaping up to be a significant occasion for gaming enthusiasts, offering insights and updates on various anticipated projects.
