DJI reveals more details about Osmo Pocket 4P ahead of launch
DJI reveals new details on the Osmo Pocket 4P, including dual cameras, 17-stop dynamic range, and D-Log2, ahead of launch.
DJI has shared additional information about its upcoming Osmo Pocket 4P, giving creators a closer look at what the company describes as its new flagship compact gimbal camera. The announcement was made during an event in Malta, where DJI highlighted several new features designed to appeal to content creators, filmmakers and vloggers.

The Osmo Pocket 4P is expected to sit alongside the standard Osmo Pocket 4 as a more advanced option. While DJI has yet to confirm a global release date or pricing, the latest details provide a clearer picture of what buyers can expect once the camera reaches international markets.
Dual-camera system expands creative options
One of the biggest additions to the Osmo Pocket 4P is its dual-camera design. Unlike previous models, the device features both a standard wide-angle camera and a second camera equipped with a 3x telephoto lens. The combination is intended to give users greater flexibility when filming different subjects without changing equipment.
DJI confirmed that the telephoto camera offers a focal length equivalent to 60mm on a full-frame camera. This focal length is commonly used for portrait photography and close-up product videos, making it suitable for creators who regularly shoot people or showcase smaller objects. Although the company described the lens as having a “large” aperture, it has not yet revealed the exact specification.
Based on the confirmed 3x optical zoom, the primary camera is expected to provide a focal length equivalent to around 20mm. This would allow users to switch between an ultra-wide perspective and a more natural portrait view while maintaining the compact form factor that has made the Osmo Pocket series popular with vloggers and travelling creators.
DJI also announced that the Osmo Pocket 4P will be available in both black and white. The addition of a lighter colour option gives buyers more choice and places the camera alongside competing products that already offer similar finishes. However, white devices can be more prone to showing dust, dirt and everyday marks during regular use.
DJI claims cinema-level dynamic range
Another major announcement focused on the camera’s imaging performance. DJI stated that the Osmo Pocket 4P will deliver up to 17 stops of dynamic range, a figure that, if independently verified, would place it among the highest-performing consumer cameras currently available.
Until DJI publishes the complete specifications and pricing, many questions remain unanswered. Even so, the latest announcement suggests that the Osmo Pocket 4P is being positioned as a significant step forward for the company’s handheld camera range, offering greater shooting flexibility through its dual-camera system and potentially class-leading imaging performance if its dynamic range claims are confirmed.
Dynamic range measures a camera’s ability to capture detail in both the brightest highlights and the darkest shadows within a single image. Higher dynamic range generally allows filmmakers and photographers to preserve more detail in challenging lighting conditions while providing greater flexibility during colour grading in post-production.
To complement the claimed imaging improvements, DJI also introduced a new colour profile called D-Log2. The company said the mode has been developed to make full use of the camera’s expanded dynamic range by recording more image data for professional editing workflows.
The company’s performance claims remain unverified until independent testing becomes available after the official launch. Nevertheless, if the advertised 17-stop dynamic range proves accurate, it would represent a significant technical achievement for a compact camera aimed at content creators. It would place it in the same category as far more expensive professional cinema equipment in terms of dynamic range performance.
Release details remain limited
Despite revealing several key features, DJI has continued to keep many technical specifications confidential. Important information such as video resolution, frame rates, internal recording formats, battery performance and pricing has not yet been officially announced.
Some of these details have already surfaced through product leaks, and the camera has reportedly begun appearing on sale in China. This follows DJI’s familiar staggered launch strategy, where products are often introduced in selected markets before becoming available elsewhere.
The company has also not confirmed when the Osmo Pocket 4P will launch in Europe or North America. However, based on the current rollout schedule, industry observers expect the camera to reach those regions sometime during the early part of the next quarter.
