Epson launches LS9000, its most affordable 4K gaming projector yet

Epson unveils the LS9000 4K gaming projector with HDR support and HDMI 2.1 at US$3,999, its most affordable Pro Cinema model to date.

Epson has introduced its latest laser projector, the Pro Cinema LS9000, marking the company’s most budget-friendly offering in the high-performance gaming and home cinema projector category to date. The new projector is being unveiled at the Audio Advice Live event, taking place from 1 to 3 August 2025 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Priced at US$3,999 the Epson Pro Cinema LS9000 delivers many of the high-end features found in the brand’s flagship LS12000 model, but at a significantly lower price. Like the LS12000, the LS9000 is a 4K 3LCD laser projector offering support for HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG formats. Its laser light source is designed to last up to 20,000 hours, ensuring years of use with minimal maintenance.

The LS9000 features a motorised lens system with powered zoom, focus, and extensive lens shift capabilities—up to ±96% vertically and ±24% horizontally. While it provides a slightly lower brightness output than the LS12000—rated at 2,200 lumens of white and colour brightness (ISO and IDMS rated respectively), compared to the LS12000’s 2,700 lumens—it remains a strong contender for dedicated dark-room home theatre setups.

The projector is equipped with dual HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K resolution at 120Hz, making it an excellent choice for gamers using next-generation consoles or high-end PCs. Both ARC and eARC are supported, allowing seamless audio pass-through to compatible sound systems.

Enhanced picture quality and gaming performance

Epson has integrated its ZX Picture Processor into the LS9000, which handles real-time frame interpolation and picture enhancement, ensuring smoother visuals and improved image clarity. A powered lens cover automatically slides into place when the projector is turned off, offering added protection. Additionally, the unit features memory zoom functionality for users of ultra-wide 2.35:1 screens and is compatible with third-party anamorphic lenses.

With its two-speed Dynamic Contrast adjustment and a quoted contrast ratio of over 2.5 million to one, the LS9000 aims to deliver impressive image depth and shadow detail, particularly in darker environments.

Positioned for gamers and film enthusiasts alike

While Epson’s Q-Series, launched at the CEDIA Expo 2024, focuses on high-lumen output for brightly lit spaces—with the flagship QL7000 reaching up to 10,000 lumens—the LS9000 is tailored to traditional home cinema enthusiasts who prefer darker viewing conditions. Its lower brightness is balanced by its robust contrast performance and sharp 4K image reproduction.

The LS9000’s competitive pricing puts it within reach of consumers seeking a versatile projector that can deliver both immersive film experiences and smooth gaming performance. As the most affordable entry in Epson’s Pro Cinema series, it’s likely to appeal to users seeking premium features without the high cost typically associated with the brand’s top-tier models.
