Garmin launches fēnix 8 MicroLED smartwatch with record-breaking brightness

Garmin unveils the fēnix 8 MicroLED, the world’s brightest smartwatch with advanced health, navigation, and performance features.

Garmin has introduced the world’s first microLED smartwatch, the fēnix 8 MicroLED, setting a new benchmark for display technology in wearable devices. The latest model, unveiled ahead of its October release, combines high brightness with advanced features for sports, health, and navigation.

A breakthrough in display technology

The fēnix 8 MicroLED is equipped with a 1.4-inch touchscreen that uses more than 400,000 individual LEDs to achieve brightness levels of up to 4,500 nits. This makes it the brightest smartwatch currently available. For comparison, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series each peak at 3,000 nits.

The new display technology offers several other advantages. Users benefit from a 15 per cent wider colour gamut, ensuring more vivid and accurate colours. Ultra-wide viewing angles make the screen clear from almost any position, while improved burn-in resistance adds to the durability of the device.

Features for performance and wellbeing

Beyond its cutting-edge screen, the fēnix 8 MicroLED carries Garmin’s full range of performance, navigation, health, and connected tools. It includes preloaded TopoActive Maps and dynamic round-trip routing to support outdoor activities. Health monitoring features include the Garmin ECG app, sleep coach, and other wellness tools. The smartwatch also supports Garmin Pay, allowing users to make contactless payments directly from their wrist.

Battery performance is another strong point. The watch can last up to 10 days in standard smartwatch mode, with four days of continuous use in always-on display mode. In battery saver watch mode, users can extend usage to as long as 14 days. This balance of high brightness and extended endurance makes the watch suitable for both everyday wear and demanding outdoor conditions.

Availability and pricing

Garmin confirmed that the fēnix 8 MicroLED will be available for purchase from October 2025. It will retail at S$2,649 and can be purchased through Garmin Brand Stores, Lazada, Shopee, the Garmin Online Store, Takashimaya, and selected authorised retailers.

With its pioneering use of microLED technology, the fēnix 8 MicroLED is expected to draw attention from athletes, adventurers, and tech enthusiasts alike.
