Microsoft accelerates AI adoption across industries and startups in Singapore

Microsoft is driving AI adoption in Singapore through its AI Pinnacle Program and a partnership with NUS Enterprise, supporting industries and startups.

More than 600 business leaders from top organisations gathered at Microsoft’s AI Tour in Singapore to explore the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. The event, part of a global series, highlighted Microsoft’s dedication to equipping enterprises and startups with the cloud, data, and AI solutions they need to thrive in a digital-first world.

At the event, Microsoft Singapore unveiled its AI Pinnacle Program, designed to transform industries by scaling AI adoption. This includes expanding the use of Copilot, introducing AI-driven automation, and co-developing customised AI solutions. In a move to boost Singapore’s startup ecosystem, Microsoft also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS), to accelerate startup growth through AI-driven innovation.

Microsoft ASEAN President Andrea Della Mattea, the keynote speaker, said: “Businesses across Singapore are seeing the benefits of generative AI for their bottom line, and today we shared how AI agents are here to streamline their operations and give them an even more competitive edge. From large multinationals to local industry leaders and homegrown startups, Microsoft is committed to delivering the cloud and AI technology that Singapore needs to drive innovation and value creation.”

Microsoft and NUS Enterprise drive AI innovation for startups

As part of the MOU, NUS Enterprise will launch the 2025 ‘Generative AI Accelerate Programme’ through its BLOCK71 incubator. This initiative aims to fast-track the growth of up to 20 pre-Series A startups working in generative AI. The 10-week intensive programme will provide startups with tailored technical and commercial guidance, mentorship from industry experts, and direct access to business leaders. Participating startups will also benefit from incubation support at BLOCK71 locations in Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia, tapping into a global innovation network.

Beyond supporting local startups, NUS Enterprise will collaborate with Microsoft to explore AI applications in diverse fields, including autonomous vehicle services and social impact projects focused on accessibility, upskilling, and sustainability.

Andrew Boyd, Microsoft Asia General Manager for Digital Natives & Startups, said: “By bringing together academia, entrepreneurs, and technology expertise, we can further Asia’s lead in AI. With a thriving innovation and investment ecosystem, Singapore is becoming the hub for AI startups, and we’re excited to be working with NUS Enterprise to help AI entrepreneurs turn their visions into reality and empower their success.”

Associate Professor Benjamin Tee, Vice President of Ecosystem Building at NUS Enterprise, added: “The NUS-Microsoft Generative AI Accelerate Programme is key to cultivating a thriving AI-native startup ecosystem. Building on NUS Enterprise’s BLOCK71 Global platform, this collaboration with Microsoft will leverage our combined strengths to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in Singapore and across Asia. Ultimately, our vision is to apply AI to power discoveries across research fields and deliver real-world impact.”

Scaling AI solutions for businesses across industries

Through the AI Pinnacle Program, Microsoft Singapore is working with leading organisations to create sector-specific AI solutions, designed to scale and transform industries. The programme has already made significant progress in sectors such as healthcare, maritime, emergency services, and law, benefiting businesses of all sizes, including thousands of SMEs.

Lee Hui Li, Microsoft Singapore Managing Director, stated: “Cementing our nation’s reputation as a hub for AI innovation is a shared focus for Microsoft and the Singapore Government. To realise the potential of AI, we’re committed to co-innovating with industry-leading customers and the public sector through our AI Pinnacle Program and creating sectoral AI solutions that will keep Singapore ahead of the curve.”

Microsoft is also expanding access to AI technology through its Azure OpenAI Service, now available locally. With the introduction of Azure OpenAI GPT-4o PTU models and data residency options, businesses can fast-track their AI adoption while ensuring compliance with data regulations. Customers can choose from over 1,800 models in the Azure AI Foundry ecosystem, providing a wide range of AI-driven capabilities.

In addition, AI-powered devices designed to support Singapore’s AI ambitions will be available from 4 March. Businesses can purchase the new Copilot+ PC for Business, powered by Intel or Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, including the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. Starting at S$2,139, these devices offer advanced AI capabilities, security, and performance for enterprise users.

The Microsoft AI Tour in Singapore provided a valuable opportunity for businesses to explore AI-driven transformation. Through keynotes, industry sessions, and partner showcases, attendees gained insights into how AI can address challenges, drive efficiency, and unlock new opportunities across industries. Microsoft reaffirmed its commitment to advancing local AI innovation and fostering business growth in Singapore.
