Nvidia to bolster ties with Vietnam in the AI sector

[output_post_excerpt]

In a significant development for technological progress, Nvidia, a prominent US chip manufacturer, has declared its intention to enhance its collaboration with Vietnam. Aimed to advance the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure, this initiative was announced by the chief executive of Nvidia on Monday.

Strengthening investment and partnerships

Nvidia has already invested US$250 million in Vietnam’s technology sector, focusing on implementing AI in cloud services, the automotive industry, and healthcare. This commitment was highlighted in a document from the White House released in September, coinciding with an elevation in diplomatic relations between the US and Vietnam. Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, announced this during his first visit to Hanoi, emphasising Vietnam’s importance to Nvidia. “Vietnam is already our partner as we have millions of clients here,” said Huang.

Huang further discussed Nvidia’s intention to expand collaborations with leading Vietnamese technology companies such as Viettel, FPT, Vingroup, and VNG. He stressed Nvidia’s dedication to aiding Vietnam in training skilled professionals for AI and digital infrastructure development.

Strategic dialogues amidst global trade shifts

As reported by Reuters, Nvidia is set to engage in talks regarding semiconductor cooperation with Vietnamese tech companies and governmental authorities. These discussions are timely, considering Vietnam’s growing interest in chip design and manufacturing, driven by the current trade tensions between the US and China.

Vietnam’s response and future outlook

Nguyen Chi Dzung, the investment minister of Vietnam, spoke of the country’s preparedness to attract investment in semiconductors and AI. He mentioned the government’s efforts in creating mechanisms and incentives to draw such investments. Responding to Huang’s suggestion, made during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Dzung encouraged Nvidia to consider seriously establishing a research and development base in Vietnam.

Nvidia’s intensified partnership with Vietnam signifies a crucial step in the country’s technological industry, potentially positioning Vietnam as an important player in the global semiconductor and AI markets.
