Google offers Singapore students one year of Google AI Plus at no cost
Eligible tertiary students in Singapore can unlock free Gemini subscriptions and cloud storage through Google's new global back-to-school learning initiative.
Eligible university students in Singapore can now access one year of Google AI Plus at no cost. The promotional package provides increased Gemini usage limits, extra cloud storage, and a suite of dedicated study tools designed to assist with routine coursework, academic research, and exam preparation.
This opportunity is open to eligible college and university students aged 18 to 24, encompassing both first-time users and those whose 2025 Google AI Pro trial has expired. Google AI Plus delivers double the Gemini usage capacity of the free tier, alongside 400 GB of cloud storage and access to Gemini Omni, which processes multiple input formats such as video through conversational interaction. In addition, the student subscription incorporates unlimited uploads for study notebooks, visualisations, and Gemini Live.
Students must redeem the offer by 31 December 2026. A valid payment method is necessary during registration, after which the plan automatically renews at S$6.98 per month once the initial 12-month complimentary window concludes, unless cancelled beforehand.
Gemini organises course material around individual classes
To complement the subscription, Google has introduced new Gemini capabilities aimed at helping students structure their academic materials across various stages of study. A dedicated workspace called Student Hub allows users to arrange individual classes by uploading syllabi, lecture notes, and related module materials into distinct study notebooks.
Gemini can process these records to generate bespoke learning plans, personalised quizzes, and tailored revision aids aligned with the syllabus of each course. A built-in Performance Tracker pinpoints specific subjects that need additional attention, whilst interactive visualisations offer an engaging way to navigate challenging topics. Google notes that Gemini can even build functional 3D simulations to help learners examine complex concepts visually.
Course documents can also be brought into Gemini Live for dynamic, spoken discussions about complex topics. Within the same interface, Deep Research is able to compile comprehensive multi-step research reports, enabling students to talk through key insights while on the move.
Google Search further expands this learning ecosystem. Lens in Search allows students to examine visual information effortlessly, whilst customised practice quizzes provide an immediate method to revise academic topics directly from search results.
The platform also handles everyday coursework and general exam readiness. Students can upload an image or file to receive step-by-step problem explanations from Gemini, or convert lecture slides and notes into practical study guides, practice tests, and Audio Overviews. Gemini can also assist with brainstorming, drafting outlines, and proofreading written work, alongside offering guidance to improve CVs and prepare for job interviews.
Google AI Pro offers higher limits at a student price
Students requiring greater capacity can subscribe to Google AI Pro at a discounted rate of S$7.28 per month, compared with the standard S$28.99 monthly cost. This Pro tier provides four times the Gemini usage allowance of the free version and broadens access to AI capabilities within Google Search. Subscribers also receive 5 TB of storage, YouTube Premium Lite, and direct access to Gemini within everyday Google services such as Gmail and Google Docs.
Google is separately providing a combined plan featuring Google AI Pro with YouTube Premium for S$14.49 per month, compared with the regular combined price of S$44.97 per month. While the complimentary AI Plus offer gives eligible students twelve months to enjoy Gemini with higher limits and expanded storage, the discounted Pro package caters to heavier usage with greater allowances and deeper software integration.
The student promotion is rolling out across more than 140 countries, including Singapore, as part of Google’s back-to-school campaign for the new academic year.
