Panasonic adds TOUGHBOOK G2, S1 to rugged tablet line-up, offering unparalleled flexibility, computing power to mobile workers

With the versatility of a 2-in-1 device, the TOUGHBOOK G2 is designed for backwards compatibility with legacy systems in the most demanding of industries

Panasonic has strengthened its TOUGHBOOK line-up with the addition of two new fully rugged tablets – the TOUGHBOOK G2, a 2-in-1 detachable 10- inch Windows tablet; and the TOUGHBOOK S1, a 7-inch Android tablet. Designed to address the evolving needs of mobile workers plying their trade in the most demanding of industries, the TOUGHBOOK G2 and S1 provide the ultimate flexibility, reliability, and computing power to help users tackle mission-critical tasks across industries.

TOUGHBOOK G2: The best-in-class fully rugged tablet with next-generation communications capabilities and backwards compatibility

The successor to Panasonic’s best-selling TOUGHBOOK G1 tablet, the TOUGHBOOK G2 combines the best features of its predecessor and the TOUGHBOOK 20 laptop into a modular 2-in-1 tablet. Featuring a 10.1-inch display and an 18.5-hour battery life, the TOUGHBOOK G2 comes with an optional keyboard and user-removable expansion packs (xPAK’s). Available in the Intel® CoreTM i5 and i7 vPro™ processor (with Intel vPro®technology) configurations, the TOUGHBOOK G2 is a Microsoft Secured-Core PC that combines ultimate computing power with next-generation communication capabilities, best-in-class enterprise security with backwards compatibility to support mission-critical tasks. 

The TOUGHBOOK G2 has been enhanced with eSIM, future-proofed wireless communications capabilities, double the RAM and storage, making it an ideal device for mobile workers accessing CAD design and schematics. It is also a highly customisable, giving users the ability to choose from the Standard and Quick Release SSDs models for data sensitive sectors such as emergency services, police forces and defence. The device also provides users with the option of adding features such as a serial port, thermal camera, barcode reader and more, while the additional user exchangeable expansion bay area allows users to add contact smart card and contactless smart card readers and designate quick clicks via three customisable buttons on the front frame of the display. 

Easy-to-use and adaptable whether users are stationary or on-the-move, the device can be docked or mounted on forklifts, emergency vehicles and desktops as required, to enable seamless collaboration and real-time visibility for inventory control, logistics management, field services, tactical operations and more. 

TOUGHBOOK S1: The ultimate rugged Android tablet for truly mobile workers 

The all-new TOUGHBOOK S1 is the ultimate rugged Android tablet for truly mobile workers that comes with a 7-inch display, 14-hour battery life, and a compact and lightweight body. A highly portable device for workers in the manufacturing, transportation and logistics and field services sectors, the device features a 5-foot drop rating and IP65 and IP67 certification for dust and water resistance, giving it the ability to withstand the challenges faced in harsh work environments and settings. 

Powered by the Qualcomm® Octa-core SDM660 Chipset 2.2Ghz with 4GB memory and an increased 64GB storage, the TOUGHBOOK S1 uses the Android™ 10 operating system with productivity+, a comprehensive Android ecosystem that enables enterprises to develop, deploy and sustain the Android OS environment across their working environment. 

As the only 7-inch enterprise-grade tablet that enables viewing in both landscape and portrait orientations, screen visibility and touch has also been optimised to enable easy reading with anti-reflection features outdoors. The patented rain mode and multi-touch features of the device also enables workers to easily navigate the touch screen regardless of whether they are using a stylus, finger, or glove to do so. 

For maximum user functionality, the TOUGHBOOK S1 provides users the option of adding integrated barcode scanning options in landscape or portrait modes, as well as including an extended life battery pack and a second USB-A port based on the needs of their work function and industry.
