SaladStop! launches AI-powered personalised nutrition with AWS support

SaladStop! adopts AWS generative AI to deliver tailored meal recommendations and boost efficiency across its global network of outlets.

Singapore-based healthy food chain SaladStop! has announced the development of a new generative AI solution to personalise nutrition recommendations for its global customer base. The initiative is powered by Amazon Bedrock, a generative AI service on Amazon Web Services (AWS), and supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) through its GenAI x Digital Leaders programme.

This project marks a major step in SaladStop!’s digital transformation strategy, which includes enhancing customer experience, improving operational efficiency, and driving innovation across its 80 outlets worldwide.

Personalised meal recommendations using AI

As part of its collaboration with AWS and IMDA, SaladStop! undertook a technology discovery session to identify ways generative AI could support its business goals. The result was a Gen AI-powered assistant built on AWS that tailors meal suggestions based on each customer’s dietary needs—whether vegetarian, gluten-free, or keto.

The AI assistant uses data from ingredient pairings and previous orders to create meal combinations aligned with individual macronutrient requirements, such as carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein. This allows customers to choose meals that support goals like weight management, muscle gain, or managing chronic health conditions.

CEO Adrien Desbaillets said, “Our customers want fast, engaging experiences when they order their healthy meals, and cloud technology has given us the power to deliver personalised and convenient ways to make eating well easier. By using Amazon Bedrock, we’re able to set new standards in the food service industry by offering a seamless, intuitive ordering experience that not only saves time but also enhances the health of our customers. This is the future of food; personalised nutrition made easy and accessible for everyone.”

Improving efficiency and scaling growth

The company expects the new solution to improve operational efficiency by 20%, particularly through better stock allocation and inventory management. It also anticipates a rise in customer retention and repeat orders, with the potential to double its volume of online orders.

SaladStop! is using AWS services including Amazon SageMaker for machine learning and predictive analytics to ensure that customer interactions are meaningful and tailored. The shift to a cloud-based system enables the company to scale its technology across its network of outlets, while still maintaining a personalised customer experience.

According to industry projections, the Asia Pacific quick service restaurant market is set to grow by 7% annually in 2025, as urbanisation and rising incomes increase demand for healthy and convenient dining. SaladStop!’s move to integrate advanced AI tools aims to position it ahead of these trends.

Backing from IMDA and AWS

The initiative is also part of a wider effort by IMDA to help Singapore enterprises embrace emerging technologies. Johnson Poh, Assistant Chief Executive of the Sectoral Transformation Group at IMDA, said, “IMDA is committed to partnering with local enterprises like SaladStop! to accelerate their digital transformation journeys, leverage emerging technologies such as generative AI, and attract more tech talent to join them in their next phase of growth as a Digital Leader.”

He noted that the collaboration with AWS has already helped nearly 200 businesses explore generative AI applications, many of which have since moved forward with deployments to solve real-world challenges.

Priscilla Chong, Country Manager at AWS Singapore, added, “SaladStop! is setting a new standard for personalised nutrition by harnessing generative AI to offer tailored, data-driven meal recommendations that empower customers to achieve their health goals.”

This AI initiative is part of SaladStop!’s broader commitment to creating a future-ready platform focused on innovation and customer health.
