Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launches worldwide, bringing strategy gaming to new heights

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launches globally on consoles and PC, promising an expansive strategy experience with new features and multiplayer options.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, the latest instalment of the globally popular strategy franchise, is officially available worldwide. For the first time, the game launches simultaneously on both consoles and PC, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Epic Games Store. It is also accessible on Mac and Linux through Steam.

This launch marks a significant milestone, with Civilization VII now catering to a broader audience across multiple platforms. Fans of virtual reality can look forward to Civilization VII – VR, scheduled for release in Summer 2025. Details on the VR version were revealed during the Civ World Summit, with more updates expected in the coming months.

A game that honours its legacy

David Ismailer, President of 2K, expressed his excitement about the game’s release: “This is an incredibly special moment for 2K as we launch Civilization VII, a game that honours and elevates the legacy of one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history.” He praised the development team at Firaxis Games, saying their creativity and passion have led to yet another groundbreaking release.

It’s time to embark on this new journey together and Build Something We Believe In.”

In Civilization VII, players will encounter a deeper and more dynamic strategy experience, with gameplay that evolves across different ages of human development. The decisions players make will shape the cultural identity of their empire, as they take control of legendary leaders from various historical eras.
