The Tesla Model Y now comes in a 110kW version that qualifies for Cat A COE

Tesla has introduced a new version of its updated Model Y, the Model Y 110. This latest version has a 110kW power output, allowing it to qualify for the cheaper Category A Certificate of Entitlement (COE). This makes it a more attractive option for buyers looking for a cost-effective electric vehicle in Singapore.

The Model Y 110 delivers a solid driving experience despite the lower power output. Power is sent to the rear wheels, and while the acceleration has slowed, the top speed remains the same at 201km/h. The car now takes 9.6 seconds from 0 to 100km/h, 3.7 seconds slower than the standard rear-wheel-drive version. However, the claimed WLTP range remains at 466km, ensuring drivers can enjoy long-distance travel without compromise.

Aside from the adjusted power output, the Model Y 110 retains all the premium features of the standard Model Y. This includes double-glazed windows for better noise isolation, a large panoramic glass roof, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system for rear passengers. Tesla has also fine-tuned the suspension to offer a smoother and more comfortable driving experience, making the Model Y 110 a well-balanced choice for city and highway driving.

Our recent test drive of the updated Model Y confirmed that it remains a well-mannered and stable vehicle on the road. The improved suspension ensures better-cruising comfort, making long journeys more enjoyable.

Lower costs and new Supercharger locations

One of the most significant advantages of the Model Y 110 is its affordability. Because it qualifies for the cheaper Cat A COE, the estimated on-road price is around S$198,000—about S$25,000 less than the standard rear-wheel-drive Model Y. The savings continue with lower road tax costs, as the Model Y 110’s annual road tax is S$1,562, compared to the S$3,478 required for the regular Model Y.

In addition to the launch of the Model Y 110, Tesla has also announced an expansion of its Supercharger network in Singapore. Four new charging locations will be introduced across the east, west, and south regions this year, making it even more convenient for Tesla owners to recharge their vehicles.

Availability and pricing
