Samsung Galaxy A06 5G offers modern features at an affordable S$228

The Samsung Galaxy A06 5G, with a 50MP camera and 5,000mAh battery, launches in Singapore on March 21, 2025, for S$228.

While Samsung is well known for its high-end flagship phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, not everyone wants to spend a fortune on a device that may become outdated in a few years. Many people simply need a phone that handles the basics and is a reliable tool for everyday tasks.

A budget-friendly smartphone with essential features

Samsung’s latest budget-friendly phone, the Galaxy A06 5G, is designed for those prioritising practicality over premium features. Priced at just S$228, this entry-level model is now officially available in Singapore. It brings some of the features of high-end phones to a more accessible price range. As part of Samsung’s Galaxy A-series, it sits alongside midrange models like the Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A56 5G.

At its core, the Galaxy A06 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, a 2024 entry-level chipset also found in other budget smartphones like the OPPO A3 Pro 5G and Vivo Y29 5G. This ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks like web browsing, social media, and streaming videos.

The phone features a 6.7-inch LCD screen with an HD+ resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. While it lacks an AMOLED display’s deep blacks and vibrant colours, it still offers a smooth viewing experience, especially when watching high-frame-rate videos.

Camera, battery, and durability

The Galaxy A06 5G is equipped with a 50MP main camera with AutoFocus and a 2MP depth camera to enhance portrait shots. The front camera is 8MP for video calls and selfies.

One of its standout features is its 5,000mAh battery, which supports 25W wired charging. This allows for extended use throughout the day with reasonably fast recharging times.

Another impressive feature is its IP54-rated water and dust resistance. According to Samsung, the device has been tested to withstand exposure to 10 litres of fresh water for five minutes from all angles. This level of durability is becoming increasingly important, even in budget smartphones.

Software support and availability

The phone runs on Samsung’s One UI 7, based on Android 15. It includes the latest security and privacy features, ensuring a safe and up-to-date user experience. Samsung has committed to providing up to four generations of firmware updates and four years of security patches, making the Galaxy A06 5G a reliable long-term choice.

In Singapore, the phone is available in a single variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The Galaxy A06 5G will be available from March 21, 2025, at a retail price of S$228. It comes in Black, Light Green, and Light Grey.

You can purchase the phone at Samsung Experience Stores, the Samsung Online Store, the Samsung Shop app, and Samsung’s official TikTok shop. It is also available at third-party retailers such as Lazada, Shopee, iShopChangi, and other authorised outlets.
