Xiaomi launches Pad 7 series with improved display, power, and camera

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Series offers an improved display, powerful processors, long battery life, and new HyperOS 2 features, making it ideal for on-the-go users.

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest innovation in tablets, the new Xiaomi Pad 7 Series, alongside the Xiaomi 15 series smartphones and SU7 Ultra electric vehicle. Building on the success of last year’s Xiaomi Pad 6, the Pad 7 features a refined 3:2 aspect ratio, improved brightness, and higher-end processors, making it a promising device for both entertainment and productivity.

Enhanced display and performance for a better user experience

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Series is available in two models: the standard Xiaomi Pad 7 and the more advanced Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. Both models sport an 11.2-inch LCD with a high resolution of 3.2K, providing sharper visuals and a more immersive viewing experience. The new 3:2 aspect ratio offers more vertical space, ideal for reading, browsing, or working with documents. Additionally, the displays support an impressive 144Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and responsive gameplay.

One significant upgrade over the previous Pad 6 is the peak brightness. The Pad 7 Series offers up to 800 nits, far brighter than the 550 nits seen in the Pad 6, making it more suitable for outdoor or bright environments. This level of brightness, paired with the 3:2 aspect ratio, offers an improved viewing experience across various tasks, from gaming to streaming videos.

Performance and power: Snapdragon processors and long-lasting battery

The two models feature different Qualcomm Snapdragon processors under the hood. The standard Pad 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, while the Pro model comes equipped with the faster Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. This choice of processors boosts both speed and efficiency, with the Pro model capable of handling more intensive tasks and providing a smoother multitasking experience.

Both models come with a substantial 8,850mAh battery, providing ample power for a day of use. The standard Pad 7 supports 45W wired charging, while the Pad 7 Pro has a faster 67W charging capability, ensuring less time is spent plugged in and more time using the device. These charging speeds are a welcome addition, especially for users on the go who require a quick top-up between tasks.

Improved camera and user-friendly features

Xiaomi has also made significant improvements in photography. The Pad 7 features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for video calls or quick photos. The Pad 7 Pro features a 50MP rear camera and a 32MP front camera, making it a solid choice for content creators who want to capture high-quality photos or videos directly from their tablet.

Both models feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, making it easier to unlock the tablet securely. Weighing just 500 grams and with a slim profile measuring 251.22 x 173.42 x 6.18 mm, the Pad 7 Series is light and portable, making it an easy companion for work or travel.

New HyperOS 2 offers smarter, smoother functionality

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Series will operate on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, which combines HyperConnect, HyperAI, and HyperCore features. HyperOS 2 aims to deliver enhanced connectivity, smarter AI-powered performance, and greater device management. Although it’s not confirmed whether these features will be available outside of China, HyperOS 2 could allow users to enjoy benefits like dual-camera streaming between Xiaomi devices, more efficient performance, and improved AI functionality.

The Pad 7 Series will be available in Black, Blue, and Green. Starting prices for the series begin at CNY 1,999 (approximately S$371.30), making the series affordable for users looking for an upgraded experience in tablet performance and display.
