YouTube Premium Lite launches in Singapore with ad-free access for S$7.98 a month

YouTube Premium Lite launches in Singapore, offering most ad-free videos for S$7.98 monthly with a phased rollout in the coming weeks.

YouTube has launched its Premium Lite service in Singapore, offering users a more affordable way to enjoy ad-free viewing on most videos. Priced at S$7.98 per month, the plan is rolling out gradually, with full availability expected nationwide in the coming weeks.

This new tier builds on YouTube’s efforts to diversify its subscription offerings following the success of YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, which together have now surpassed 125 million global subscribers.

A simpler ad-free experience

Premium Lite is aimed at users who primarily want to watch videos without interruptions. It removes ads from a wide range of content categories such as gaming, comedy, cooking and educational videos. The plan works across all devices, including phones, laptops and smart TVs.

However, the Lite subscription has some limitations. It does not remove ads from music content or YouTube Shorts, and users may still see advertisements when searching or browsing. For a more comprehensive experience, including background play, offline downloads, and ad-free access to both YouTube and YouTube Music, the full YouTube Premium plan remains the recommended option.

More choice for viewers and more support for creators

The launch of Premium Lite reflects YouTube’s strategy to offer flexible options to suit different viewing habits. According to the company, the move is intended to give users better access to the content they enjoy while also supporting the platform’s broader ecosystem.

“The introduction of YouTube Premium Lite in Singapore underscores YouTube’s commitment to offering flexible options that cater to diverse viewer preferences, allowing users to enjoy their favourite content from a vast array of creators and genres with fewer interruptions,” the company said in a statement.

YouTube also emphasised that expanding the Premium Lite pilot not only benefits users, but also helps generate additional revenue for creators and partners. As part of its ongoing plans for 2025, the company expects to extend the service to more markets and explore additional ways to enhance the value of its subscription products.

A growing global subscriber base

With its expanding range of subscription offerings, YouTube continues to grow its paying user base globally. YouTube Premium and YouTube Music recently crossed the milestone of 125 million subscribers, reflecting strong demand for premium content experiences across regions.

Premium Lite joins this portfolio as a budget-friendly alternative that maintains the core appeal of an ad-free viewing experience, tailored to audiences who want fewer interruptions without the need for extra features.
