Alienware brings the Aurora laptop series to mainstream gamers with powerful new models

Alienware expands its Aurora brand with new gaming laptops, the Aurora 16 and 16X, designed for mainstream gamers and launching in June 2025.

Alienware, Dell’s gaming arm, is taking a new step with its popular Aurora brand. Known for powerful desktop machines, the brand is now branching out with a laptop line under the same name. The new models, Aurora 16 and Aurora 16X, are built for everyday gamers who want reliable performance without spending too much.

This launch is part of Alienware’s bigger plan to divide its products into two easy-to-understand groups. First, the high-end Area 51 range is built for tech enthusiasts who want top performance, no matter the price. Then there’s the Aurora range, which is more budget-friendly and made for people who want a smooth gaming experience without needing the fastest specs on the market.

Designed with gamers in mind

The Aurora 16 and 16X aren’t just new laptops—they’re also some of the first to feature Alienware’s updated look, known as the Alienware 30 (AW30) design. According to Dell, this style was created to feel “futuristic and timeless,” with a hint of mystery. While that may sound dramatic, you’ll notice a cleaner and simpler look compared to older Alienware models.

The design includes rounded corners and a chamfered edge at the front, making it easier to open the laptop with one hand. There’s also a brand-new colour called Interstellar Indigo. From a distance, these laptops might not even look like the Alienware machines you’re used to, especially since they’ve dropped the bulky thermal shelf at the back. Still, the well-known Alienware logo ensures you know what you’re looking at.

Packed with performance

Don’t let the softer look fool you—these machines are serious about gaming. The Aurora 16 comes with an Intel Core 5 (Series 2) 210H processor, which can be upgraded to a Core 7 or Core 9. The more advanced Aurora 16X features an Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) HX processor, offering even better speed and power for demanding games.

Both laptops can be fitted with NVIDIA RTX 50 Series graphics cards. The standard options include the RTX 5060 and 5070, but if you don’t need that power level, the Aurora 16 can also be ordered with last-generation cards like the RTX 5050, 4050, or 3050.

Both models feature a stunning 16-inch QHD screen with a 240Hz refresh rate, giving you smooth visuals whether you’re gaming or watching videos. Another interesting feature is Alienware’s new cooling system, the Cryo-Chamber. Instead of vents at the back, it uses space underneath the laptop, where the rear feet would normally be. This helps keep things cool while maintaining a slimmer shape.

Both models are light for gaming laptops, weighing between 2.5 and 2.7kg. When closed, they measure just 23mm in height, making them easier to carry in a backpack.

Launch and availability

If you’re in Singapore and looking for a new gaming laptop, you’ll be able to find both the Aurora 16 and 16X starting in June 2025. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but these models are aimed at mainstream gamers, so expect them to be more affordable than Alienware’s top-tier offerings.

With their powerful hardware, user-friendly design, and cooler, quieter performance, the new Aurora laptops could be a great choice if you’re after a machine that plays well and travels light.
