ASUS expands premium AMD Ryzen motherboard lineup with Crosshair X870E Extreme and Apex

ASUS expands its premium AMD motherboard lineup with the ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme and Apex, launching in Singapore mid-June 2025.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced two new high-end motherboards designed for AMD Ryzen systems, expanding its premium offerings for enthusiasts and overclockers. The ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme and Crosshair X870E Apex now join the previously released Crosshair X870E Hero, giving users more options when building performance-focused PCs. These new models aim to deliver next-level power, cooling, and connectivity, and are supported by the ASUS DriverHub app, which includes the ASUS AI Advisor for tips on setup and performance optimisation.

ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme pushes performance boundaries

The Crosshair X870E Extreme is designed to take full advantage of AMD’s latest Ryzen 9000 Series processors. It features a powerful 20+2+2 power stage setup and premium components for stable performance under heavy workloads. Designed to handle even the most demanding CPUs like the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, the board includes thick VRM heatsinks and dual 8-pin ProCool II connectors with solid pins for efficient power delivery.

This motherboard is tailored for advanced users, offering robust overclocking tools including LN2 mode, a ReTry button for POST recovery, and a FlexKey button that can be customised for quick functions. ASUS also includes Probelt measurement points to give users detailed voltage monitoring capabilities. The BIOS features tools such as AI Overclocking, ASUS Enhanced Memory Profiles (AEMP), Dynamic OC Switcher, and Core Flex to allow for in-depth tweaking and system control.

To support AI workloads, ASUS has introduced AI Cache Boost, which promises up to 12.75% faster performance when running large language models. Memory overclocking is also improved with the new NitroPath DRAM technology, delivering up to 400 MT/s gains depending on configuration.

The Extreme edition also comes equipped with a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot with support for M.2 22110 drives and a dedicated heatsink. Installation is simplified with tool-free M.2 Q-Release and Q-Latch mechanisms. Connectivity is another key strength, featuring both 10Gb Marvell AQtion and 5Gb Realtek Ethernet ports, plus WiFi 7 support for fast and stable wireless access.

ROG Crosshair X870E Apex targets extreme overclockers

Designed with memory performance in mind, the Crosshair X870E Apex is the first Apex board built for AMD processors and continues the series’ legacy of breaking overclocking records. With just two DIMM slots, this motherboard reduces signal interference, helping enthusiasts push memory speeds to the limit—even with liquid nitrogen cooling.

Cooling is a strong focus, with a robust 18+2+2 power stage setup cooled by large heatsinks and an L-shaped heat pipe. These are integrated with the I/O cover to increase thermal dissipation. The rear of the board is reinforced with metal plating for both rigidity and passive cooling, while a variety of fan headers, including W_PUMP+ and AIO pump connectors, allow for extensive cooling configurations. Additionally, the bundled ROG Memory Fan Kit improves airflow across memory modules for better thermal stability.

For storage and expansion, the Apex offers two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for graphics cards and three PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots. Tool-free installation is supported with M.2 Q-Latch and a robust heatsink for the primary slot. Extra options are available via a bundled ROG DIMM.2 Card, which includes two more PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, as well as four SATA 6Gbps ports for traditional storage devices. Network connectivity includes WiFi 7 and a 5Gb Ethernet port, along with multiple high-speed USB ports for added convenience.

Availability and pricing in Singapore

The ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme and Crosshair X870E Apex motherboards are expected to be available in Singapore from mid-June 2025. The Crosshair X870E Extreme will retail at S$2,099, while the Crosshair X870E Apex will be priced at S$1,149. Interested customers are advised to contact their local ASUS representative for purchase details and availability.
