Commvault partners with CrowdStrike to improve cyber threat detection and recovery

Commvault partners with CrowdStrike to enhance threat detection and data recovery, providing businesses with faster responses and stronger cyber resilience.

Commvault, a major player in data protection and cyber resilience for hybrid cloud environments, has announced a new partnership with CrowdStrike to integrate their advanced cybersecurity platform, Falcon. The collaboration aims to boost cyber threat detection and ensure swift recovery, providing businesses with greater resilience against modern cyberattacks.

The partnership takes advantage of CrowdStrike’s extensive threat intelligence and security data, combining it with Commvault’s cloud-first capabilities. This integration provides joint customers with an extra layer of security through real-time threat insights, faster detection, and recovery processes.

Alan Atkinson, Chief Partner Officer at Commvault, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, stating: “The average organisation has seen 8 cyber incidents in the last year, 4 of which are considered major. At Commvault, we are committed to empowering businesses with the tools they need to not only safeguard their data but to enhance their overall cyber resilience. By partnering with CrowdStrike, we are combining our deep expertise in cyber resilience with their advanced threat detection capabilities, empowering our joint customers with faster response times and a stronger cyber resilience posture.”

Enhancing threat detection and streamlined recovery

With cyberattacks growing in complexity, businesses need faster and more reliable solutions to handle incidents and mitigate risks. The new integration allows companies to detect threats earlier and restore compromised data to a safe state, ensuring minimal downtime.

When CrowdStrike identifies malicious activity, alerts are sent directly to administrators through Commvault Cloud. From there, they can initiate a Threat Scan to assess potential damage and quickly restore affected files. This streamlined process ensures businesses can maintain operations even in the face of major cyber incidents.

The key benefits of the integration include:

  • Proactive threat detection: Using CrowdStrike’s AI-powered insights and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs), organisations can identify threats early and respond swiftly to limit damage.
  • Faster recovery of clean data: Businesses can quickly restore their systems by pinpointing the last known clean version of their data, minimising disruption. Recent global research found that 62% of respondents reported downtime or data loss caused by cyberattacks as a major disruption.
  • Seamless team collaboration: The integration enables smoother workflows between security operations (SecOps) and IT operations (ITOps) teams, leading to more effective threat response and recovery.
  • Continuous business operations: By reducing recovery time and downtime, businesses can keep their critical services running even during complex cyberattacks.

Strengthening Commvault’s cybersecurity ecosystem

This partnership with CrowdStrike reflects Commvault’s ongoing commitment to expanding its cybersecurity ecosystem. The company has been actively working with leading security providers to develop comprehensive solutions for detecting, mitigating, and recovering from cyberattacks.

With the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, the collaboration provides a timely and effective solution. Joint customers can benefit from a combination of real-time threat intelligence and cloud-driven recovery, ensuring they remain prepared for evolving risks while maintaining continuous business operations.

By integrating their respective strengths, Commvault and CrowdStrike aim to offer businesses a solid defence against cyber threats, allowing them to recover quickly and limit damage. This collaboration is expected to help enterprises manage and recover from security incidents with greater ease, ensuring long-term protection and resilience.
