Google launches Gemini AI across Android devices in Singapore

Google introduces Gemini AI to Android users in Singapore, offering advanced AI features accessible through mobile and desktop platforms.

Google is enhancing the AI capabilities of Android-based smartphones by introducing the Gemini Mobile App, starting with Singapore as one of the primary beneficiaries. This rollout is part of Google’s broader strategy to make its advanced AI accessible to a global audience, with Gemini AI now supporting more languages and regions.

Android users in Singapore can now download the Gemini app directly or access it through Google Assistant. The app is compatible with Android phones equipped with at least 4 GB of RAM and running Android 12 or newer. Meanwhile, iOS users aren’t left out; they can engage with Gemini via a dedicated tab in the Google app on devices running iOS 16 or higher.

Gemini AI is designed to be versatile and user-friendly, allowing users to type, speak, or upload an image to receive assistance. For instance, you could snap a photo of a flat tyre and get step-by-step guidance on fixing it, or seek help drafting a thank-you note, showcasing Google’s vision of creating a truly conversational and multimodal AI assistant.

Beyond the standalone app, Google is integrating Gemini more deeply with its ecosystem. New extensions enable the AI to seamlessly search across various Google services, such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, and even Google Flights and Hotels, to provide comprehensive assistance. This feature is particularly useful for complex tasks like coordinating travel plans, where Gemini can consolidate travel dates, accommodations, and activities into a unified itinerary based on user emails and preferences.

Google is also simplifying the process of interacting with Gemini on desktops. Users can initiate queries directly from the Chrome browser’s address bar by typing ‘@gemini’ followed by their question. This triggers a quick launch of the gemini.google.com page, displaying responses immediately and further integrating Gemini’s AI capabilities across platforms.

With these advancements, Google is not only promoting greater accessibility to AI tools but also enhancing the everyday digital experience for users in Singapore and potentially worldwide.
