Google Pixel Watch 2: A companion for your wellness journey

Launched at Made by Google event, the Google Pixel Watch 2 offers health sensors, safety features, and seamless Google app integration for a healthier lifestyle.

The Made by Google event didn’t disappoint as it unveiled the anticipated Google Pixel Watch 2, a device that is not only a trendsetter but also a health mentor on your wrist. With its comprehensive health sensors, improved heart rate monitoring, enhanced personal safety features, and a remarkable boost in performance, this smartwatch is designed to be your daily companion.

A personalised touch to elegance

The allure of the Google Pixel Watch 2 lies in its customisability. Offered in two sizes, three distinct coloured cases, and four bands, it caters to varied aesthetic tastes. Whether you prefer the Matte Black Aluminium Case paired with an Obsidian Active Band or the Champagne Gold Aluminium Case with a Hazel Active Band, you have options. The smartwatch enclosures, crafted from 100% recycled aluminium, feature a Haptic crown and a button on the right, adding a touch of elegance and function.

The technical specifications are nothing short of impressive. Housing a Qualcomm SW5100 and a Cortex M33 co-processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the smartwatches promise a smooth user experience. The Always-on display, protected by Custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5, boasts a 1.2-inch 320 ppi AMOLED display with DCI-P3 colour, ensuring vivid visuals even under bright sunlight with a brightness boost of up to 1000 nits. Water and dust won’t be an issue, thanks to its IP68 resistance rating. And with a 306mAh battery guarantees a full day’s charge, replenished in just 75 minutes.

Step into a healthier lifestyle

Transitioning from its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 2 incorporates Fitbit’s refined health sensors, delivering more accurate heart rate tracking during workouts and throughout the day. It’s your window into vital health metrics, from Active Zone Minutes to body-response tracking and heart health insights. The watch doesn’t stop at just monitoring; it aims to enhance your well-being. Advanced stress-management features educate you on how your body reacts to various stressors, aiding in lifestyle modifications for healthier living.

The automatic workout start and stop reminders are a boon for fitness fans. The smartwatch can discern seven everyday workouts like running and outdoor cycling, eliminating the need for manual inputs. Apps like Pace Training further enrich your exercise routine, providing cues to maintain or regain your desired pace.

Seamless integration with Google apps

The synergy between the Pixel Watch 2 and Google apps like Gmail and Calendar facilitates effortless management of your schedule and communications. The At a Glance watch face complication conveniently provides contextually relevant information, such as the morning’s weather or traffic conditions for your commute.

A noteworthy feature making a transition from the Pixel phone 7 is Safety Check. This function keeps your loved ones informed during your solo outdoor activities. Setting a timer for your expected arrival time at a destination and choosing up to 15 emergency contacts ensures that your whereabouts are known. Should you fail to check in post-timer expiration, a notification, along with your location on Google Maps, is sent to your emergency contacts, adding an extra layer of safety to your adventures.

Available to adorn your wrist soon

The Google Pixel Watch 2, priced at S$525 for the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi model, hits the market on 12 October from 9 am. Though the price for the 4G LTE model remains undisclosed, stay tuned for updates. A six-month free trial of Fitbit Premium membership, a one-month trial of YouTube Music Premium, and a one-year warranty are sweeteners to this deal. Available for purchase through retail partners Challenger and Singtel and online on Amazon.sg and Shopee, it’s ready to be a part of your daily regimen.
