Hitachi Vantara launches Hitachi iQ M Series for AI and industry workloads

Hitachi Vantara introduces the Hitachi iQ M Series, a scalable AI-ready solution integrating NVIDIA AI technology and Hammerspace for seamless data management.

Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi, has introduced the Hitachi iQ M Series, a new addition to its AI-ready infrastructure solutions. Designed for businesses adopting artificial intelligence (AI), the M Series offers a cost-effective and adaptable infrastructure that integrates accelerated computing platforms with high-performance networking.

The M Series includes Hitachi Vantara’s Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One), various file system options, and the option to integrate NVIDIA AI Enterprise software. The solution provides flexibility for businesses to scale compute and storage independently, allowing them to manage AI applications efficiently while controlling costs.

As generative AI continues to grow, the demand for high-performance data processing has increased significantly. Many businesses face rising expenses when handling large volumes of AI training data. The M Series enables businesses to choose the most suitable NVIDIA GPU for specific workloads, optimising performance for different AI applications. This adaptability ensures businesses can allocate resources efficiently and avoid unnecessary expenditure.

Enhanced AI capabilities through NVIDIA integration

Hitachi Vantara has incorporated the NVIDIA AI Data Platform reference design into the M Series, enabling seamless data management for AI-driven businesses. This integration combines Hitachi Vantara’s enterprise storage with NVIDIA’s advanced computing, networking, and AI software. The result is an AI-ready infrastructure that delivers near real-time business insights, helping organisations transform their data into actionable intelligence.

By leveraging NVIDIA’s AI capabilities, Hitachi Vantara aims to simplify AI adoption across industries. “We’re on a mission to help customers from all industries harness the power of AI regardless of the market they’re in,” said Jason Hardy, chief technology officer for artificial intelligence at Hitachi Vantara. “With the expansion of computing power from Hitachi iQ M Series and the high performance and reliability standards inherent in the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, we have created a unique opportunity for businesses to innovate, revamp user experiences, streamline operations, and optimise cost. This enables businesses to capitalise on AI without overburdening their teams or their bottom line.”

The M Series offers flexible configurations that incorporate NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology. Businesses can select either a high-performance file system or a global namespace file system, with an optional object storage repository available within the Hitachi iQ portfolio. This setup makes the M Series ideal for handling diverse and data-intensive workloads.

Bob Pette, vice president of enterprise platforms at NVIDIA, highlighted the importance of making stored data accessible for AI-driven applications. “Enterprises generate and store vast amounts of data, much of it unstructured and inaccessible to modern AI-driven applications,” he said. “With the AI Data Platform reference design, stored data is accessible in real time on Hitachi iQ, giving applications access to full knowledge of the business and providing invaluable insights that strategically accelerate AI initiatives.”

Strategic partnership with Hammerspace for advanced data orchestration

To further enhance its data orchestration capabilities, Hitachi Vantara has partnered with Hammerspace, a software company specialising in data accessibility. This collaboration integrates Hammerspace’s software with the VSP One storage platform, expanding the M Series’ ability to manage data for AI, analytics, and industry-specific applications.

With this partnership, the M Series ensures seamless access to distributed data for generative AI (GenAI) workloads. Businesses can use the solution to create, process, govern, and protect datasets across multiple locations, making AI adoption more accessible and efficient.

The Hitachi iQ portfolio remains one of the most comprehensive AI enablement solutions available, offering tools that help businesses identify AI use cases, assess data readiness, and create a roadmap for AI implementation. By combining flexible infrastructure with strategic partnerships, Hitachi Vantara aims to drive AI adoption across industries, transforming how organisations manage and use data.
