HPE unveils next-generation Nonstop Compute solutions for mission-critical workloads

HPE launches NS5 X5 and NS9 X5 Nonstop Compute systems with more memory and performance for mission-critical enterprise operations.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has introduced two new additions to its line of fault-tolerant compute systems, aiming to deliver more power and scalability for mission-critical workloads. The HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5 platforms, now available, bring significant upgrades in processing capacity, memory, and interconnect bandwidth, meeting the increasing demands of enterprise data centres.

Built on HPE’s proven fault-tolerant architecture, both models feature Intel Xeon processors and are designed for industries where continuous availability is essential. These include financial services, retail, manufacturing, and transportation, where uninterrupted operations and real-time processing are key.

“Our customers rely on HPE Nonstop solutions to power mission-critical workloads,” said Casey Taylor, general manager, HPE Nonstop. “In fact, one of our auto manufacturing customers has been using HPE’s fault-tolerant systems for more than 35 years without any unplanned downtime. With the launch of HPE Nonstop Compute NS5 X5 and NS9 X5, we are reinforcing our commitment to deliver an architecture designed for fault-tolerance and high performance so that our customers can scale their businesses and innovate with confidence.”

Enhanced performance and enterprise-grade reliability

The new systems offer up to 8 TB of memory—twice that of their predecessors—and come with improved networking capabilities. The NS9 X5, the flagship model, delivers up to 2.5 times more networking bandwidth than earlier versions. Together with enhanced fibre channel connectivity, these updates allow financial institutions to process more transactions per second and support manufacturers in achieving faster, more integrated multi-plant operations.

Both platforms integrate compute, storage, networking, software, and services in a complete system built for availability levels of 99.999% to 99.9999%, based on IDC’s AL4 uptime categorisation. The NS5 X5 is equipped with Intel Xeon Bronze 3400 series processors, while the NS9 X5 uses the Intel Xeon Gold 6400 series, offering up to 15% more performance.

These solutions support seamless expansion by allowing clustering with the two previous generations of HPE Nonstop Compute systems. This helps customers scale operations without disruption and maintain continuity even during migration or upgrades.

Rod Cortez, general manager, HPE Nonstop for APAC & India, said: “Enterprises across Asia Pacific are rapidly digitalising critical business operations in sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, retail, and healthcare, which is fuelling unprecedented demand for resilient, high-performance infrastructure. The new HPE Nonstop Compute solutions are engineered for this era, delivering enhanced processing power, memory, and networking performance to help organisations modernise workloads and future-proof their data centres. These solutions reflect HPE’s commitment to supporting the region’s digital transformation by enabling enterprises to accelerate business processes with confidence, agility, and unmatched reliability.”

Compliance, security, and long-term support

The release also includes an updated operating system that enhances platform capabilities while adding multi-factor authentication (MFA). This feature helps enterprises meet compliance standards such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and SOC 2.

Industries already relying on HPE Nonstop include car rental services handling 80,000 daily reservations and six of the world’s top 10 full-service global retail banks, which use the platform for high-volume payment processing, ATM operations, and core banking services.

Customers can access the new systems as standalone offerings or through HPE GreenLake’s as-a-service model, beginning 2 June. Support will be provided by HPE Nonstop Compute engineers, who specialise in migrating complex, mission-critical applications without downtime.

HPE’s latest Nonstop Compute platforms aim to support customers looking to modernise their infrastructure with systems designed for both resilience and performance.
