EDGNEX to build US$2.3 billion AI data centre in Jakarta

EDGNEX announces US$2.3 billion AI-focused data centre in Jakarta, its second project in Indonesia and part of a larger Southeast Asia expansion.

EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC has announced plans to develop a large-scale, AI-focused data centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. The new facility represents the company’s second site in the country and is set to become one of Southeast Asia’s largest data infrastructure projects dedicated to artificial intelligence.

With a future projected capacity of 144 MW and a total investment of US$2.3 billion, the Jakarta facility will introduce high-density AI racks to support growing demand across sectors. Phase one of the site is expected to be operational by December 2026.

Supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation

DAMAC Group completed the land acquisition in March 2025, with construction now in the early stages. The upcoming site aims to support Indonesia’s transition from legacy systems to a more digitally enabled economy. Although Indonesia has shown strong growth potential in digital services, it continues to face gaps in hyperscale infrastructure and increasing latency concerns.

“This is our second project in Indonesia, and this development reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital divide in fast-growing markets across Southeast Asia (SEA), such as Indonesia,” said Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group. “We are proud to build what will become one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced, sustainable data centres to power the next wave of innovation and digital growth. The scale of AI workloads demands a new class of infrastructure. This project is part of our broader push across SEA, where we have committed over USD 3 billion in digital infrastructure investments to date.”

The facility is positioned as a foundational asset in Indonesia’s digital landscape, supporting national ambitions for AI-driven development across industries.

Energy efficiency and sustainability goals

The Jakarta facility will aim for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32, a key metric reflecting improved energy efficiency. The project aligns with EDGNEX’s global sustainability benchmarks and reflects broader efforts to address rising energy demands from AI infrastructure.

According to research from Mordor Intelligence, the Indonesian data centre market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.73%, reaching 2.11 thousand MW by 2030. EDGNEX’s new facility is expected to contribute meaningfully to this growth, offering scalable and environmentally conscious infrastructure for cloud providers, AI deployments, and edge computing.

Expanding presence across Southeast Asia

This marks EDGNEX’s second major investment in Jakarta. In 2024, the company announced a 19.2 MW data centre at MT Haryono in central Jakarta, a key connectivity zone in the capital. The first phase of that project is on track to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.

Beyond Indonesia, EDGNEX is expanding its presence in other Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand and Malaysia. Across the region, the company is targeting a total operational capacity of over 300 MW by 2026.
