Huawei Pura 80 series brings powerful camera upgrades and sleek design

Huawei’s new Pura 80 Ultra and Pro phones arrive with advanced cameras, bright OLED displays, and fast charging, launching August 2.

Huawei is raising the bar again with the launch of its latest flagship range — the Pura 80 series. This 2025 update introduces two premium smartphones packed with advanced camera features, stunning design, and ultra-fast charging technology. If you’re someone who values top-quality photography and performance in a phone, the Pura 80 Ultra and Pura 80 Pro may be your next upgrade.

Cutting-edge design and display

You’ll find the Pura 80 Ultra and Pura 80 Pro continue Huawei’s distinct design language, complete with the familiar triangular camera bump seen in the previous Pura 70 series. Both models are powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 9020 processor — a 7nm chipset announced at the end of 2024 — delivering a fast and reliable experience.

As with other recent Huawei devices, these phones come with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) instead of Google Mobile Services. So, you won’t have access to the Google Play Store, but you can still find apps and services through workarounds and alternative platforms.

Both models are equipped with a vibrant 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display that supports a dynamic refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz. Whether you’re scrolling social media or watching a film, the 3,000-nits peak brightness ensures crisp, clear visuals even in bright sunlight.

Durability is a key highlight too. The Pura 80 Pro utilises second-generation Kunlun Glass, while the Ultra version elevates it with second-generation Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass, providing enhanced scratch resistance. Both phones also carry an IP68/IP69 rating, meaning they’re well protected against dust and water.

Remarkable camera system with zoom versatility

If you’re after a phone with top-tier photography features, the Pura 80 series has you covered. The Pura 80 Pro comes with a powerful 50MP 1-inch Ultra Lighting primary camera, a 40MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 48MP Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto lens. This telephoto lens supports both a 5cm macro focus and a 4x optical zoom, giving you great flexibility when capturing close-ups and distant scenes.

However, the real game-changer is the Pura 80 Ultra. It includes a 50MP 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR camera, a 40MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and two telephoto lenses that switch depending on your subject. You’ll get a 50MP telephoto camera with a 3.7x optical zoom for mid-range shots and a 12.5MP telephoto lens with a powerful 9.4x optical zoom for subjects further away. Both telephoto cameras are supported by sensor-shift optical image stabilisation (OIS), helping you get sharp and steady photos even at high zoom levels.

Battery life, charging, and availability

You don’t need to worry about running out of power quickly. Both the Pura 80 Ultra and Pro come with a 5,170mAh battery, supporting Huawei’s lightning-fast 100W SuperCharge wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

Pre-orders open on July 22 via Huawei’s official Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok stores. The Pura 80 Pro is priced at S$1,398, while the Pura 80 Ultra comes in at S$1,898. Early birds can enjoy up to S$50 off with vouchers that are redeemable from July 14 (8 pm) to August 2.

As for colours, you can choose from Glazed Black, Glazed White, or Glazed Red for the Pura 80 Pro, while the Ultra variant is available in Golden Black or Prestige Gold.

Both phones will officially go on sale from August 2 at Huawei Experience Stores, M1, and major electronics retailers like Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, and SprintCass. Whether you’re drawn by the photography features, the premium build, or fast charging, the Huawei Pura 80 series is ready to impress.
