Vivo joins the foldable race with new X Fold5 featuring ZEISS cameras and a huge battery

The Vivo X Fold5 offers foldable power with ZEISS cameras, a 6,000mAh battery, and multitasking software, all in a slim and lightweight design.

You’re seeing more folding phones than ever before, and Vivo is now stepping into the spotlight with its latest flagship, the Vivo X Fold5. Following closely behind launches from Honor and Samsung, Vivo’s entry into the foldable space comes with top-tier hardware, sleek design, and powerful software to match.

Weighing just 217g, the X Fold5 is one of the lightest foldable phones available, coming in just 2g heavier than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7. Despite its slim build, it’s packed with impressive features that make it a strong contender in the premium foldable market.

A durable design built to last

The Vivo X Fold5 is engineered for endurance. The inner display stretches across 8.03 inches, while the outer cover screen measures 6.53 inches. Both displays boast up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, ensuring vivid colours and sharp clarity whether you’re indoors or outside.

Vivo has also focused on durability. The new “kinematic” hinge is designed to withstand up to 600,000 folds, equivalent to years of daily use. The phone also features an IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance rating, along with additional IP5X protection against dust. When folded, it measures just 9.2mm in thickness, putting it nearly on par with competitors like the Honor Magic V5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7.

High-end cameras with ZEISS technology

Photography enthusiasts will be pleased with the X Fold5’s camera system. Vivo continues its partnership with ZEISS, equipping the device with a triple 50MP rear camera setup. This includes a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a primary wide-angle camera, and an ultrawide shooter. The ZEISS branding means you’re getting top-notch image quality, perfect for capturing everything from landscapes to portraits.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. While it doesn’t come with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite chip like some competitors, it still delivers fast and efficient performance for multitasking and gaming.

Advanced software and long battery life

The Vivo X Fold5 excels in its software. It runs on Vivo’s custom Origin Workbench, which is tailored for multitasking on a larger foldable screen. You can open and run up to five apps at once, similar to Apple’s Stage Manager on iPads. It’s an excellent tool for productivity, especially if you often juggle between emails, browsing, and video calls.

Vivo also features several AI-powered capabilities, including Smart Call Assistant, AI Transcript, and AI Captions, which enhance your daily phone experience with voice-to-text and real-time call summaries.

All of this is powered by a massive 6,000mAh BlueVolt battery that uses semi-solid-state battery tech, making it safer and more efficient. Charging won’t be an issue either – the X Fold5 supports 80W Dual-Cell FlashCharge for wired use, and 40W Wireless FlashCharge when you’re on the go.

If you’re in the market for a premium foldable phone that balances design, performance, and durability, the Vivo X Fold5 might be the one to watch. It’s stylish, feature-rich, and ready to compete with the biggest names in the game.
