Huawei is set to reveal its latest foldable smartphone at the upcoming Pura Pioneer Festival on March 20, 2025. The event, scheduled at 2:30 PM, will showcase the next evolution in Huawei’s foldable technology.

A new foldable phone on the horizon

The highly anticipated device is rumoured to be the Huawei Pocket 3, featuring a 6.28-inch foldable display and a 3.48-inch cover screen. When unfolded, reports suggest that the phone will resemble a compact version of an iPad mini. However, what truly sets this device apart is speculation surrounding a rollable screen.

According to leaks and Huawei’s teaser video, the Pocket 3 could introduce an innovative rollable display that expands to a 16:10 aspect ratio. While details on how the rollable feature will function remain unclear, it could mark a significant step forward in smartphone screen technology.

A shift towards HarmonyOS Next

The Pocket 3 is expected to be the second device after the Mate 70 series to run on HarmonyOS Next, Huawei’s custom operating system that moves away from Android. This shift highlights the company’s commitment to developing its software ecosystem amid ongoing restrictions on access to Google services.

Since the device will debut at the Pura Pioneer Festival, it will likely be branded under Huawei’s Pura series. The company rebranded its long-standing P-series under the Pura name in 2024, launching the Pura 70 series in May. StarHub partnered with Huawei in Singapore to bring the Pura 70 series to consumers through its SIM-only and contract mobile plans.

Huawei has yet to confirm the Pocket 3’s full specifications or provide details on how the rollable screen will work. However, with the event just days away, tech enthusiasts won’t have to wait long to see what Huawei has in store.
