Next-generation Snapdragon G Series enhances handheld gaming

[output_post_excerpt]

Qualcomm Technologies has unveiled its latest Snapdragon G Series gaming platforms at the Game Developers Conference, bringing a new level of performance and immersive experiences to handheld gaming. The updated lineup includes Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, and Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, each designed to meet different gaming needs.

These platforms enable players to enjoy cloud, console, Android, or PC gaming on the go. Starting this quarter, manufacturers like AYANEO, ONEXSUGAR, and Retroid Pocket will launch handheld gaming devices powered by the new Snapdragon G Series.

Performance upgrades across all tiers

The Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 is the most advanced chipset in the lineup, specifically designed for dedicated Android handheld gaming. It is the first in the Snapdragon G Series to support Lumen, Unreal Engine 5’s dynamic global illumination and reflections system. The new processor delivers a 30% increase in CPU performance and 28% faster graphics compared to its predecessor. Additionally, power efficiency improvements and Wi-Fi 7 support enhance gameplay by reducing latency and increasing bandwidth.

For cloud and dedicated gaming devices, the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 offers a balance of power and efficiency, supporting gameplay at 144 frames per second (FPS). Compared to the previous model, it delivers 2.3 times better CPU performance and a 3.8 times faster GPU. Like the G3 Gen 3, it also supports Wi-Fi 7 for smoother wireless gaming.

The Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 is aimed at a broader audience, delivering 1080p gaming at 120 FPS over Wi-Fi. It brings an 80% increase in CPU speed and a 25% faster GPU, making it an ideal choice for cloud gaming on handheld Android devices.

Qualcomm pushes the future of handheld gaming

“The Snapdragon G Series Gaming Platforms are redefining on-the-go gaming with advanced performance and immersive experiences,” said Micah Knapp, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies. “These next-generation Snapdragon G Series processors will power the future of handheld gaming by supporting a wide range of play types and form factors for manufacturers and developers to innovate around.”

With these upgrades, Qualcomm continues to push the boundaries of portable gaming. As manufacturers begin launching devices powered by the latest Snapdragon G Series this quarter, gamers can expect better performance, improved graphics, and more reliable connectivity.
