Workato launches national developer challenge to drive workplace innovation

Workato and IMDA launch "The Work Revolution" Developer Challenge to inspire AI-driven workplace solutions, offering over S$18,000 in prizes.

Workato, a leading Enterprise Orchestration platform, has launched “The Work Revolution” Developer Challenge in partnership with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). This nationwide initiative aims to inspire developers to create cutting-edge integration, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that enhance workplace productivity.

With 85% of business leaders expecting an increased demand for skills development due to AI and digital transformation over the next three years, the challenge offers participants a chance to gain hands-on experience in shaping the workplace of the future. Open to students, developers, IT professionals, and citizen developers, the competition features a prize pool exceeding S$18,000 in cash. Finalists will have the opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of judges comprising leaders from both the public and private sectors.

The challenge focuses on five key areas critical to enterprise solutions: security, employee experience, customer experience, operational excellence, and social sector impact. Participants will have full access to Workato’s enterprise automation platform and advanced AI capabilities, allowing them to develop solutions that can drive digital transformation in businesses.

“As a strategic partner of IMDA, Workato will continue to empower the broader community to contribute to the transformation of Singapore’s digital economy. This new partnership looks outwards, tapping into the creativity and ingenuity of the wider community to drive the next wave of workplace innovation. This competition is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring innovators to put their ideas into motion and develop skills that will make a real impact on the future of work,” said Vijay Tella, co-founder and CEO of Workato.

Incentives and mentorship opportunities for participants

The first-place winner will receive a S$10,000 cash prize and the chance to speak at Workato’s flagship conference. The second and third place winners will be awarded S$5,000 and S$3,000, respectively. In addition to cash prizes, all finalists will benefit from exclusive training and mentorship led by Workato experts to help refine their solutions ahead of the final presentation.

By fostering innovation in key business domains, the challenge aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to navigate the evolving digital landscape. With enterprise-grade tools and AI-driven automation, the initiative provides a real-world platform for developers to showcase their creativity and problem-solving capabilities.

Advancing digital transformation in Singapore

This initiative aligns with Singapore’s Smart Nation vision, supporting local talent in addressing real-world business challenges through innovation. By offering hands-on experience with AI and automation technologies, Workato and IMDA aim to strengthen Singapore’s position as a leading digital innovation hub.

“We look forward to seeing the winning solutions that will come out of this Developer Challenge, which is focused on driving innovation for the future of work. We believe Workato’s enterprise automation platform will empower budding developers to create forward-thinking integration, automation, and AI solutions that will transform workplace productivity,” said Edwin Low, director of enterprise & ecosystem development at IMDA.

Workato, recognised as a leader in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for iPaaS, has helped major enterprises across Asia Pacific, including Fullerton Health, Gulf Marine, and Jollibee Food Corporation, accelerate digital transformation.

Developers interested in participating can register for the challenge and pre-event training sessions, which will be held monthly. The deadline for entry submissions is 21 April 2025, at 11:59 PM SGT.
