Proofpoint has introduced its next-generation digital communications governance (DCG) solution, offering enhanced archiving, supervision, and AI-driven capabilities. This latest release is designed to help organisations manage the growing complexity of digital communication channels, especially in heavily regulated sectors like financial services. Already deployed by six of the top 10 US financial firms listed in the Fortune 100, the offering is now available via public cloud infrastructure.
With businesses increasingly relying on platforms like messaging apps, video calls, and collaboration tools, ensuring compliance across diverse digital touchpoints has become more challenging. Proofpoint’s updated DCG platform aims to simplify this task by offering advanced tools to capture, monitor, and manage digital communications in line with global regulations, including FINRA, FCA, HIPAA, and GDPR.
Gartner anticipates that by 2028, 80% of organisations will adopt integrated solutions to supervise both text and video-based communications—up from fewer than 20% in 2024. This reflects a growing need for consolidated platforms to help organisations keep up with evolving regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
Harry Labana, senior vice president and general manager of Proofpoint’s DCG Business Unit, stated, “As regulatory scrutiny intensifies and digital communication channels multiply, the need for innovative, scalable solutions that enable compliance and streamline governance across all forms of digital interaction has never been more critical. By using advanced AI, we can cut through the noise, reduce supervision overhead, and simplify discovery—helping compliance and legal teams focus on what truly matters.”
AI-driven tools enhance archiving and compliance
At the core of the upgraded platform is Proofpoint Archive, now available on Amazon Web Services (AWS). It offers industry-leading performance with real-time search features such as true wildcard, proximity, and emoji search. According to 2024 statistics, the average search time is under three seconds. The archive also supports robust litigation holds and advanced compliance capabilities, including content reconciliation and PCI DSS attestation.
The platform allows for regional deployments where justified, with current availability in the US and plans to expand to Canada, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates later this quarter.
Smarter supervision and reduced review burden
The new Proofpoint Supervision and Proofpoint Automate modules are evolving to meet increased regulatory pressures. These solutions incorporate advanced machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) for surveillance, translation, and summarisation of compliance risks. They aim to improve detection accuracy across multiple content types while significantly reducing false positives, helping institutions meet stringent requirements from regulators like the SEC and FINRA.
New customers can access pre-trained ML models straight away, without requiring additional licences. Proofpoint is also exploring the use of generative and agentic AI to further improve supervision capabilities, ensuring organisations maintain effective oversight at scale without inflating costs.
Support for 80+ digital channels and proactive audit readiness
Proofpoint’s native capture capabilities now span more than 80 digital channels, including email, mobile messaging, voice, video, social media, and collaboration platforms. This supports broader content governance and rapid integration through enterprise-grade connectors. Additionally, Proofpoint Patrol enhances social media monitoring and helps resolve compliance issues quickly.
The platform’s Proofpoint Track module supports audit preparation with upstream and downstream content reconciliation. This helps ensure that all relevant data is successfully captured and stored, reducing the risk of non-compliance. These capabilities have been recognised by Gartner for their scalability and reliability.
Availability and transition plans
Proofpoint Archive is currently available on AWS, with existing customer migrations set to begin in Q3 2025. These will be provided at no cost until the end of 2026. Meanwhile, the updated features for Proofpoint Supervision and Automate will be rolled out globally in phases starting from Q2 2025.
