HPE introduces AI-powered security and data protection innovations at Black Hat USA 2025

HPE reveals AI-driven networking and data protection solutions at Black Hat USA 2025, featuring CrowdStrike partnership and secure storage upgrades.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has unveiled a broad range of cybersecurity and data protection solutions at Black Hat USA 2025, highlighting its expanded secure networking portfolio and deeper integration of AI to strengthen enterprise resilience. For the first time since acquiring Juniper Networks, HPE is presenting a unified lineup of security innovations spanning networks, systems and data.

The new announcements include the launch of HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 for modern data protection, enhanced AI-driven tools for network threat detection, and a new cyber resiliency integration hub through HPE Zerto Software in partnership with CrowdStrike.

AI-enhanced secure networking and zero trust capabilities

HPE is advancing its edge-to-cloud security offering with a new AI-powered SASE copilot for HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect. This feature uses machine learning to detect network activity and security vulnerabilities, providing recommendations for closing open ports, updating unpatched systems, and identifying risky behaviours on the network.

The update also expands the zero trust capabilities of HPE Aruba Networking Central’s network access control (NAC) tool. Now compatible with HPE Juniper Networking and third-party devices, the system enables global, identity-based policy enforcement across users and IoT devices.

HPE has also introduced real-time application classification through AppEngine, offering deeper visibility and control, and integrated WebCC and URL filtering to block malicious sites and high-risk content. These updates aim to provide a more proactive approach to network defence using AI-generated insights and policy automation.

Breakthrough performance in enterprise data protection

At the core of HPE’s data security showcase is the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000, a high-performance, all-flash object storage solution designed for AI workloads and now optimised for modern data protection. The system supports backup speeds of up to 1.2 petabytes per hour—nearly double that of its closest competitors—making it one of the fastest enterprise backup platforms on the market.

With a scale-out architecture, the solution allows organisations to independently expand storage capacity or performance as needed. It also integrates with HPE StoreOnce Catalyst Software, which offers up to 60:1 data reduction for more efficient backup and restore processes.

HPE has validated compatibility with major data protection platforms including Commvault Cloud, Cohesity NetBackup and Veeam Data Platform, positioning the X10000 as a versatile option for enterprises in sectors like healthcare, finance and IT where rapid data recovery is critical.

Cyber recovery strengthened by Zerto and CrowdStrike integration

In a further step toward cyber resilience, HPE Zerto Software now supports a new integration hub for third-party applications. CrowdStrike has been announced as the exclusive launch partner for the initial release. This integration links the HPE Zerto disaster recovery platform with the CrowdStrike Falcon platform to detect, respond to, and recover from ransomware and other attacks.

When a threat is detected by CrowdStrike, HPE Zerto can automatically restore virtual machines and applications to clean snapshots taken just seconds before the attack occurred. This process also benefits from the HPE Cyber Resilience Vault, which combines hardware and software across the HPE portfolio—including Alletra, ProLiant, Aruba and Zerto—to provide a zero-trust, air-gapped recovery environment.

Daniel Bernard, Chief Business Officer at CrowdStrike, said, “Our partnership with HPE reflects CrowdStrike’s commitment to delivering integrated, outcome-driven solutions that keep customers ahead of today’s adversaries. By combining the power of the AI-native Falcon platform with HPE Zerto’s recovery capabilities, we’re enabling organisations to stop breaches, minimise downtime, and maintain business continuity—even in the face of ransomware and other disruptive threats.”

HPE also confirmed that HPE Zerto will be certified to meet updated US cybersecurity standards, including those from CISA, STIG and FIPS. The company has established a new cybersecurity Centre of Excellence to further test and validate its storage platforms against top ransomware strains, including confirmation that HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 detects the 25 most prevalent ransomware types.

Unified showcase at Black Hat USA 2025

Black Hat USA 2025 marks the first joint appearance of HPE’s combined networking and data protection portfolio since the Juniper Networks acquisition. At booth #2261, the company is presenting the full range of its AI-native networking and hybrid cloud security offerings, including the HPE Juniper Networking Next-Generation Firewalls.

Among these is the Juniper SRX 4700, which features up to 1.4 Tbps firewall throughput per rack unit—claimed to be the highest in the industry. Designed for large enterprises, telcos, and cloud providers, the firewall supports zero trust and mesh firewall architectures to deliver robust protection with simplified operations.

The combination of networking and data protection across HPE’s platforms reflects a strategic shift toward unified, AI-enabled security systems that address the growing complexity of hybrid cloud environments.
