Reddit introduces AI-powered tool to simplify your searches

Explore Reddit’s new AI tool, Reddit Answers, designed to simplify searches by providing clear responses and direct links to Reddit posts.

Reddit has unveiled its latest innovation, an AI-powered search feature called Reddit Answers. This tool is designed to help you find information directly from Reddit without relying on Google. Reddit Answers generates clear and concise responses to your queries while linking to the original sources on the platform.

What sets Reddit Answers apart is its focus on sourcing content exclusively from Reddit. This could provide a quicker way to access Reddit-based information without using Google, one of the few search engines showing recent Reddit results. Reddit’s ultimate aim seems to be to encourage users to search within its platform, and Reddit Answers may be the key to achieving this.

How it works and who can use it

Reddit Answers was initially rolled out to a limited number of users in the United States. It will be available in English on the Reddit website (excluding Old Reddit) and the iOS app. An Android version is currently in development. According to a blog post from Reddit, the tool will be expanded to more languages and regions.

For now, Reddit Answers comes with a simple interface. When you open the tool, you’ll see a large text box where you can type your query. Suggested searches also appear on the homepage, with examples such as “favourite Nintendo character of all time,” “best mystery novels of 2025,” and “tips for flying with a baby for the first time.”

When you select or type a query, Reddit Answers quickly generates a list of responses in bullet point format. These responses are linked to their sources, which can be accessed by clicking a hyperlink or an arrow. This opens a sidebar displaying the exact post where the information was found.

In contrast, performing the exact search through Google often yields a long list of links, requiring you to sift through them to find relevant information. The summarised and formatted results from Reddit Answers could make finding information on Reddit much more efficient.

Is Reddit Answers reliable?

While Reddit Answers is promising, it’s not without its quirks. For example, spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt noted that the tool can pick up recent Reddit discussions within minutes. However, during testing, it failed to provide timely information about a recent NFL game, instead showing older, unrelated results. This indicates that the tool may still have some issues to iron out.

Despite these limitations, Reddit Answers can be a helpful starting point for exploring broader topics on the platform. Traditional search engines like Google might still have the edge for specific or time-sensitive queries.

A new way to explore Reddit

Reddit Answers aims to simplify the process of finding information on Reddit, but whether it will replace Google for searching Reddit-based content remains to be seen. For those looking to dive into general topics or discussions, the tool offers a streamlined and user-friendly experience. As it evolves, Reddit Answers has the potential to become an essential feature for users seeking direct access to Reddit’s wealth of information.
