Samsung to unveil new foldable devices at Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July
Samsung is expected to unveil new Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip phones during its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on 22 July.
Samsung is preparing to hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 July in London, where it is expected to introduce the latest additions to its Galaxy foldable smartphone lineup. While Samsung has yet to confirm the full product lineup, industry rumours suggest that several new foldable phones, along with possible wearable devices, could make their debut during the presentation.

The company has only stated that it “will introduce its latest Galaxy innovations that build on its leadership in foldables.” Despite limited official information, recent leaks and reports have provided a glimpse of what consumers may see at the event.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 expected to headline the event
Among the devices widely expected to be announced is the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Samsung’s next-generation compact foldable smartphone. Reports suggest the handset will feature a redesigned hinge, performance improvements, and a lighter body than its predecessor.
Although users may be hoping for a major redesign, recent reports indicate that broader hardware upgrades could be limited. Industry speculation suggests that global memory supply constraints may have affected Samsung’s ability to introduce more significant hardware changes for its 2026 foldable lineup.
Attention is also focused on the Galaxy Z Fold series, where Samsung is rumoured to introduce more than one book-style foldable for the first time. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a wider internal display, offering a more practical aspect ratio for watching videos, reading and multitasking when unfolded.
To help maintain competitive pricing, reports indicate that the standard model could feature a dual-camera rear system rather than the triple-camera setup on the previous Galaxy Z Fold 7. While Samsung has not confirmed these specifications, such a move would allow the company to position the device at a more accessible price point while reserving premium features for higher-end models.
Premium foldable and wearable announcements remain possible
Alongside the standard model, Samsung is also rumoured to introduce a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. If announced, it would become the flagship model within the company’s foldable smartphone portfolio.
According to recent leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may include improved display technology designed to reduce the visibility of the screen crease, a newer processor, three rear cameras and faster charging capabilities. These upgrades would further distinguish the Ultra model from the standard version.
However, the exact naming and feature differences between the two devices remain uncertain. Some industry observers believe that features such as the wider display may instead be reserved for the Ultra model, while the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 could retain much of the existing design introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Samsung has also released teaser content on social media showing what appears to be a wider foldable device. Although the company has not revealed specific product details, the teasers have strengthened expectations that notable design changes are planned for the next generation of Galaxy Fold devices.
Beyond smartphones, Galaxy Unpacked may also include updates to Samsung’s wearable product range. Devices frequently mentioned in recent reports include the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, both of which are expected to build on the company’s existing smartwatch lineup.
Reservations open ahead of Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung may also use the event to provide an update on its broader extended reality ambitions. Reports suggest the company’s Android XR smart glasses could make an appearance, though a full product launch is considered less likely. Samsung could instead choose to offer an early preview before a separate announcement later in the year.
As with previous Galaxy Unpacked events, Samsung has already opened reservations for customers interested in its upcoming products. Those who reserve before the official launch will receive a US$30 credit if they go on to pre-order eligible devices after they are announced.
The Galaxy Unpacked presentation will be streamed live through Samsung’s official website and YouTube channel, allowing viewers around the world to watch the announcements as they happen. The event is scheduled to begin on 22 July at 9:00 AM Eastern Time, giving consumers and industry watchers their first official look at Samsung’s latest foldable devices and any additional products revealed during the showcase.
