Samsung unveils the new Buds3 series with innovative features

Discover Samsung's new Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro, featuring innovative design, translation capabilities, and advanced audio technology.

Samsung has just unveiled its Buds3 series of true wireless earbuds, including the Galaxy Buds3 and the Galaxy Buds3 Pro.

The rumors were true. The Buds3 series showcases an entirely new design with prominent stems, closely resembling Apple’s AirPods. The Galaxy Buds3 has an open design, while the Galaxy Buds3 Pro boasts an in-ear design for enhanced noise isolation. Both models are available in silver and white.

A unique design feature of these earbuds is the blade lights. You can pinch or swipe up or down on these lights to control various aspects of the earbuds, offering an intuitive way to manage your audio experience.

One standout feature of the Buds3 series is its interpretation and translation capabilities, which are compatible with the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. By activating Interpreter in Listening mode on these devices, the earbuds translate spoken words directly into your ears, making them handy tools for travelers and multilingual users.

Superior sound and innovative features

As the flagship model, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro has a more advanced driver system and enhanced features. It includes a two-way driver configuration consisting of a 10.5mm dynamic driver and a 6.1mm planar tweeter. These earbuds also feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), an ambient sound mode, and voice detection.

The voice detection feature is particularly useful. It automatically switches from ANC to ambient mode whenever it detects your voice. This allows you to hear your surroundings or have a quick conversation without manually changing listening modes.

In contrast, the Galaxy Buds3 has a single 11mm dynamic driver and includes ANC but lacks the Pro version’s ambient sound mode and voice detection feature.

Both earbuds support the AAC and SBC codecs and Samsung’s proprietary SSC (Samsung Seamless Codec) and SSC UHQ codecs. These codecs enable high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/96kHz on compatible Samsung devices.

Battery life and durability

Samsung claims the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offers up to 6 hours of battery life on a single charge with ANC activated, with the charging case providing an additional 26 hours. The Galaxy Buds3 has a slightly lower battery life of up to 5 hours with ANC on, with the charging case adding another 24 hours.

Both models are built to last with IP57 dust and water resistance ratings, making them suitable for various environments and conditions.

Availability and pricing

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Buds3 will be available on July 24, 2024. The Galaxy Buds3 Pro costs S$358, while the Buds3 costs S$258. You can purchase them on Lazada, Shopee, the Samsung Online Store, Samsung Experience Stores, and local telco stores.
