Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z Fold6 enhances productivity with AI features

[output_post_excerpt]

Samsung has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This new device comes with numerous upgrades that enhance its performance and maximize its unique form factor.

Lighter, slimmer, yet stronger with more display

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is the slimmest and lightest Galaxy Z Fold ever produced. It is 1.4 mm shorter and 14 g lighter than its predecessor. The most significant improvement is its reduced thickness: 12.1 mm when folded and just 5.6 mm when unfolded.

To improve your viewing and handling experience, the Galaxy Z Fold6’s displays are also 1 mm wider when folded and 2.7 mm wider when unfolded. This change makes the outer (6.3-inch) more similar to a standard smartphone, while the main foldable (7.6-inch) inside has an almost 1:1 aspect ratio.

Samsung has listened to its users, delivering a more compact but immersive book-style foldable through the Galaxy Z Fold6. To enhance durability, Samsung uses a new dual rail structure with a strengthened folding edge for the hinge, distributing shock from external impact more effectively. The main screen also features enhanced layers to reduce the crease while maintaining strength. The build is further strengthened with enhanced armor aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, Qualcomm’s 2024 flagship processor customized for Samsung. To manage heat better, Samsung has added a vapor chamber that is 1.6 times larger than the one in its predecessor, ensuring more consistent processing power.

A truly AI-powered book-style foldable

Samsung has imported its suite of Galaxy AI features from the Galaxy S series to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. These include Note Assist, which now offers transcription, translation, and summarization of voice recordings. PDF files can now be translated through a new feature called PDF overlay, which reads text from images and graphs.

The Samsung Keyboard with AI-assisted tone is still present, with a new Composer feature that generates text based on keywords in your emails and other supported social media apps. The composer mimics your tone by analyzing your previous writing.

The optional S Pen stylus now supports Galaxy AI features. It’s handy with Samsung’s new Sketch to Image generative art creator, turning your sketches into new pieces you can save to your Gallery or Notes app.

A surprising addition is Google’s Gemini AI app, also available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This allows you to use Google’s AI assistant across text, images, and files, and it can even search through your Google apps like Gmail, Docs, Drive, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and Hotels to make personalized recommendations. The Gemini overlay can be activated with a corner swipe or “Hey Google” command and works in multi-window mode, even solving math problems in English.

Some AI functions, such as Interpreter’s conversation mode, are optimized for the foldable form factor, where translations can be shown on the outer display. At the same time, the other user faces the inner display. Live Translate now supports popular third-party apps beyond Samsung’s default call app.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 features a 10 MP selfie camera on the cover screen, a 4 MP under-display camera, and a triple rear camera setup with a 50 MP main, 12 MP ultra-wide, and 10 MP telephoto (3x optical zoom). It has an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and a 4,400mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. The phone supports two nano-SIM cards and multiple eSIMs.

  • 12GB + 256GB: US$1,899
