2K and Firaxis Games have proudly announced the upcoming release of “Sid Meier’s Civilization VII,” scheduled for launch in 2025. This game marks a new chapter in the storied Civilization strategy game series and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and for PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam. Fans can now add the game to their wishlists on selected platforms, with an extensive gameplay showcase promised for August 2024.

Debut at Summer Game Fest

The announcement was made during the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live, accompanied by a compelling cinematic trailer that illustrated humanity’s historical progression and the ongoing quest to establish a lasting legacy. Sid Meier, the Founder and Director of Creative Development at Firaxis Games, shared his enthusiasm: “For more than 30 years, players from around the world have shared their love and support for Civ,” he said. “I’m incredibly excited for Civ fans to see Civilization VII, a game that represents the culmination of three decades of strategy innovation and refinement.”

David Ismailer, President of 2K Games, also commented on the franchise’s impact and future. “With more than 70 million copies sold and over 1 billion hours played, the Civilization franchise is a crown jewel for 2K,” he stated. “What the team is looking to accomplish with Civilization VII is nothing short of breathtaking, and we’re confident that Firaxis Games has another hit on their hands with Civilization VII.”

Engaging gameplay and active community involvement

As the seventh mainline title in the series, Civilization VII offers a 4X strategy experience where players build their civilization from the ground up, managing cities, engaging with rivals, and exploring the world. For the latest updates, fans are encouraged to wishlist Civilization VII at www.civilization.com and follow the game across various social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok.
